[46939] Find A Grave memorial 21476905 offers Carl's obituary: "Carl M. Boor, 86 years old, went home to meet his Maker on August 21, 2007. Carl was a veteran serving in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. Army. He spent 30 years working at, and retired from, Boeing. He was also a 50-year plus Mason. The joy of his life was flying planes. In retirement, he enjoyed his dogs, grandchildren, traveling, gardening and pestering his wife. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Annie Boor, daughter Shirley L. Boor, son Carl O. Boor Jr., sister Opal York, son-in-law John M. Riker, grandson-in-law Ricky Boggs, great-granddaughter London Church, and great-great-grandson Jordan Gunter. He leaves his wife of 66 years, Mary; his children Ginny, Kay, Kathy, Theresa and Carla; his 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren."
[4889] Hugues is joint founder of Dryburgh Abbey. http://www.angelfire.com/vt2/larbre/pafg16.htm offers: "Hugo de Morville was born in 1105. He died in 1202 in Jerusalem. He married Beatrice de Beauchamp. Was one of the four knights who murdered St. Thomas a Becket and who later fled to his Yorkshire estates via Scotland. Hugo de Morville , lord of Lauderdale and Constable of Scotland together with his wife Beatrice founded Dryburgh Abbey. Buried in the porch (now inside) the Templars Hostel in Jerusalem (now known as the El Aksa Mosque). Took King Richard Coeur de Lion as hostage in 1193. Gave a copy of the poem containing the Legend of Lancelot (Lanzelet) to the poet Ulrich von Zatzikhoven."
John's birthplace is questioned by others who state it was Buckinghamshire, England. An unverified file in Ancestry.com states John is son of James Spooner (b. 1565) and Susan Demariville (b. 1559), and that John also m. Susanne Bennett (1586-1615).
"Spooners come to America" - taken from the Spooner Generations, Family Origins, is the following:
John Spooner, believed to be the ancestor of William, progenitor of the American Spooners, left Colchester, England for Amsterdam, the Netherlands and from there moved to Leiden, where the group that would become the original Pilgrims were gathering. In Leiden, John met and married Ann Peck, daughter of Robert and Prudence (Brewster) and niece of William Brewster, the famed Pilgrim leader. Their marriage certificate dated December 24, 1616 is still on file at the Leiden Pilgrim Archives.
John died in about 1630 and seven years later Ann decided to move to the New England colony with their two sons, Thomas and William. Thomas would die at a young age in Salem, Massachusetts, but William lived to father many generations of American Spooners. The earliest Spooners settled in Plympton, Massachusetts, and from there migrated to Vermont, Wisconsin, the Carolinas, and many other states. [- Kiriyo Spooner added this on 8 Mar 2010 (Ancestry.com)]
