In 1892 he was very smart for one of 82 years, attending to considerable work about the farm, going without a cane but suffered from rheumatism. In 1892 his brothers and sisters were all dead. His son Martin lived with him and his wife, and took charge of the farm. He was a fine appearing elderly gentleman. He lived all his life at the old homestead in Bethleman."
