Debra was a graduate of Sumner Memorial High School, Class of 1977, and from Husson College, Class of 1979 with an associate's degree as medical secretary. She was employed by the Town of Sullivan for 15 years, serving as deputy town clerk, tax collector, and treasurer. In addition to her mother, Debra is survived by her husband of 23 years, Jerome T. Briggs; two daughters, Erika Briggs and Courtney-Leanne Briggs, all of Sullivan; two sisters, Lynn Murphy and her husband, James, and Dawn Doughty and her husband, Tim, all of Sullivan; a niece, Whitney Doughty; and a nephew, Allen Doughty; two stepdaughters, Alisson Lewis of North Carolina and Kristy Whittelsey of New Mexico; her father and mother-in-law, Earl and Morna Briggs of Corea; a sister-in-law, Brenice Briggs of Gouldsboro; a brother-in-law, Terry Briggs of Boston, Massachusetts; two special uncles, Courtney Campbell and Phillip Dunbar, both of Sullivan; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and her many friends. She will also be missed by her canine friends, Tonka and Sophie. Additionally, Debra will be remembered by her special friends, Phyllis and Walter Moore."

She made pies for the Stone Inn restaurant and by special order for individuals and groups. She was an active member of the Athens United Methodist Church, where she served on the worship committee. She was a member and past vice president of the United Methodist Women, and was flower and bazaar chairman. Her husband, Homer Green, died in 1974. She is survived by a daughter, Elsie Mahoney of Englewood, Fla.; sons, Carl Green of Mendon, Jerry of Athens, and Daryl of Leonidas; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Whitmore of Battle Creek, Gertrude Myers of Angola, Ind., and Evelyn Reppert of Coldwater; and brothers, Glenn and Lester Gallaway, both of Battle Creek."

Leach, 69, were held today in the Methodist church with a large attendance of friends and relatives. Mr. Leach, who died in the Fairfield Sanatorium where he had been for the past two months, was born and always lived in Penobscot, the only son of Truman and Elvida Leach and had lived here all his life. His wife, Ida Estelle Leach, died 25 years ago and later his only daughter. Mrs Leila Lowe, who died leaving several children who live in Winterport. He was highly regarded as a citizen, kindly and a good neighbor. He leaves two sons, Brainard of Penobscot and Ralph of Dark Harbor." Oscar and Estelle also had a son in 1892 who died an infant.
