[48584] Find A Grave memorial 75684066 offers Lois' obituary: "Lois L. Alger Fry, 94, of McPherson, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2011, at McPherson Hospital. She worked for Farmer's Alliance Insurance Company as an underwriter for 22 years, from 1959 to 1981. Lois was born on July 6, 1917, in McPherson County, the daughter of Archibald and Hazel E. (Schriner) Durland. She graduated from Windom High School, Emporia State Teacher's College, and Brown Mackie Business College. She was united in marriage to Hensley D. Alger on February 6, 1937, in McPherson. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1958. On February 24, 1984, she married George Loy Fry at McPherson. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1988. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, McPherson. Survivors include: son, Byron Alger and wife, Billie, of McPherson, KS; daughter, Myrna Cook and husband, Arthur, of Covington, OK; four grandchildren; Kimberly Smelser of Covington, OK, Sondra Easterly and husband, Eddie, of Covington, OK, Tamera Hankins and husband, Bobby, of Lahoma, OK, and Kandi LaMontagne and husband, Michael, of Erie, CO; 11 great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, and an infant sister."

In 1949 he attained the M.A. degree at the University of Chicago. 1949-1969 he was Professor of History at Upsala College in New Jersey and 1967-1969 was Director of Libraries there. In 1967 he attained the M.S. degree at Columbia University in New York City - he resided in East Orange, Essex Co., NJ. In 1969 he moved to Fort Myers, FL and was Director of Learning Resources at Edison Community College. Death date and place are from Georgia death records.
