[52150] Extensive information about Joseph is in http://www.newhousegetchell.net/Getchell_Machias_Ancestor_Report.pdf, including: "Prior to moving to Machias, Maine, Joseph Getchell served as a corporal in the 1759 Penobscot expedition for the reduction of Canada. In 1765, Joseph Getchell's family was one of the original families settling and building the new town of Machias, Maine. He moved to Machias from Wells, Maine. . . . Another firsthand account is provided with the notes for James Lyon. Joseph Getchell, Jr. and his two sons, Joseph the 3rd and Benjamin, all had official service in Machias companies during the Revolutionary War after the colonial governments formally organized for war against the British. Joseph Getchell was also in Capt. Stephen Smith's Co. Enlisted Sept 14, 1775, and was discharged Dec. 31, 1775. Also, Joseph Getchell took part in an expedition against St. John's in Capt. Jabez West's Co. from May through July 1777. He enlisted again in a company of artillery raised for the care of ordinance stores and service at and for the defense of Machias from Dec. 13, 1777 through June 1, 1778. Joseph Getchell also built the first saw mill erected in eastern Maine."

Noah Jacob Huss was a veteran of the War of 1812 from Maryland. He was a York Volunteer. The British had burned Washington, D.C. in August 1814. This upset the Pennsylvania Dutch farmers. The British were getting too close to their lands and they didn't want their crops burned. Men from Lebanon, Bucks, Dauphin, Schuylkill, Lancaster, Berks, Chester, and York counties gathered. They marched from York, August 29, 1814. Noah joined them on August 30 as they marched toward Baltimore, Maryland. When they arrived they joined the troops at North Point, overlooking Fort McHenry. The infantry defended this place during the battle. Noah served in LtCol Cobean's Battalion of Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. He was a private in Capt Robert Colvin's Company of Infantry. Noah was in service until September 18, 1814.

The family came to Green Creek in 1824, arriving late in the fall. They came to Ohio over the Zane Trail. Noah purchased 1,200 acres of land at $1.25 an acre, he wrote his own deeds. The family lived in their covered wagon until a log cabin was built in the woods in Section 18, on lands afterwards known as Kernahan farm. This location is on the present State Route 19, north of Green Springs. The early life of this hardy pioneer was beset with hardship and grave responsibilities, clearing the land for cultivation, rescuing the small crops from depredations of the wild life that resented intrusion, also, the fear of safety for the family from the members of the Seneca Indian Tribe which occupied lands in the vicinity.

Noah and Mary were married May 14, 1811. They had eleven children: Ellen, John, Christian, Barbara, Noah, James, Elijah, Mary Ann, Margaret Jane, Jacob, and Martha Malvina. Noah died at the age of 53 years, 5 months, and 1 day. His grave is marked by a plaque of the War of 1812.

[11529] John I (of Castile and León), in Spanish, Juan I (1358-90), king of Castile and León (1379-90), the son of King Henry II, founder of the house of Trastamara. John attacked Portugal to defeat the schemes of John of Gaunt, duke of Lancaster and son of Edward III of England, who had assumed the title king of Castile, and of King Ferdinand I of Portugal. Ferdinand submitted in 1382 and made peace, giving his daughter to John in marriage. On Ferdinand's death in 1383, John again made war on Portugal, but was defeated at Aljubarrota in 1385 by King John I of Portugal. In 1386-87 he repulsed John of Gaunt's invasion of Spain and settled their differences by a treaty and by arranging the marriage of one of John of Gaunt's daughters to his son Henry, later King Henry III of Castile and León. John also married Beatriz of Portugal. For tis line, see https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trastámara.

[28721] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benedicta_Henrietta_of_the_Palatinate-Simmern offers: "Born in Paris to the landless Edward of the Palatinate, Bénédicte Henriette's paternal grand parents were Frederick V, Elector Palatine and Princess Elizabeth of Scotland, the Winter Queen. Her maternal grand parents were Charles I, Duke of Mantua and Montferrat and his French consort Catherine de Lorraine, daughter of Charles de Lorraine. She had two older sisters. Anne Henriette married the mad Henri Jules, Prince of Condé, son of le Grand Condé. Like Benedicta Henrietta, Anne Henriette became an ancestor of the famous Philippe Égalité and the present French pretender Henri d'Orléans. Anne Henriette named her daughter Anne Louise Bénédicte de Bourbon after her sister. The other sister, Louise Marie, married Charles Theodore, Prince of Salm and had one child. She was married in 1668 at the age of fourteen to John Frederick, Duke of Brunswick-Lüneburg, born in 1625 and childless. The marriage produced four daughters. John Frederick died in 1679, and the duchy of Brunswick was inherited by his nephew, Ernest Augustus of Brunswick. Benedicta Henrietta helped arrange the prestigious marriage of her youngest daughter, Princess Wilhelmina Amalia, to the Holy Roman Emperor, Joseph I, in 1699. Through Wilhelmina Amalia's eldest daughter, the Archduchess Maria Josepha, Benedicta Henrietta is an ancestor of King Juan Carlos I of Spain and the present royal houses of Parma, Luxembourg and Belgium"
