[21692] He is the Frederick Steese mentioned by http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~bbunce77/Bolender_Misc.html: "Frederick's father, Jacob Steese, was a Revolutionary soldier." In 2004 http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~chrystiem/meyerbook.html idedntified Frederick as brother of Mary Steese, daughter of Jacob Steese, reporting: "Mary Steese was said to have been a very stout yet strong woman; she had charge while still single; held the position of "grist-mill operator" before marrying Henry Meyer. Even during this era it was an occupation that was of rude and inconvenient construction for even a man at any age since this type of work demanded considerable strength. Though she was a built with strong features she died in August of 1801 from a Malignant fever of which she contracted while she and her husband Henry were visiting at her brother, 'Frederick Steese' in Synder Co., PA. Frederick Steese had a low grade form of this fever as it is stated that Frederick contracted malignant fever while with his father on a trip to Philadelphia buying goods. Tradtion says it was 'Yellow Fever'. Grandmother (as the writer put is regarding Mary Steese) was the first victim in the Valley to die from the dreaded disease but many early settlers did soon follow."
