He was the husband of the late Myrtle V. Shoemaker Metzler and the late Betty White Metzler. He was a member of Calvary Independent Church. A retired farmer and carpenter, he was formerly employed by the late Steven Esh. He was born in Salisbury Township, a son of the late Christian and Mary Hershey Metzler. He is survived by the following children: A. Elizabeth, wife of Witmer Groff, Naples, Fla.; Genevieve M., wife of George Kramer, Kinzers R1; Elmer S., Paradise R2; Robert J., Leesport, Mary Ellen, wife of Charles Donley, Rothsville; Elva Dorothy, wife of Roy S.
