[50054] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 22 April 1912, p. 2: "Machias, April 21 - The death of George Harris Foster one of the most prominent and best known residents and business men of the city, occurred some time last night, as he was found dead in his bed, this morning. He had been affected with heart disease for some time, but his death was entirely unexpected. He was 66 years old, last October, and for the most of his life has been connected with the business and social life of Machias. He was a member of the firm of Foster & Bryant, operating a planing mill. He Was much interested in Masonary being a Past Master of Harawood lodge F. and A. M, Past High Priest of Washington R. A. Chapter, Past Commander of St. Elmo Commandery, Knights Templar, an officer of Delta lodge of Perfection, and of Deering council. Princes of Jerusalem. He was the first patron of Machias chapter O. E. S. of which Mrs. Foster was the first matron, and at the time of his death was master of Machias Valley grange, performing his duties as such Friday night. He was a consistent Democrat in politics, had been candidate for sheriff and clerk of courts, and served as deputy under Sheriff Jefferson M. Swett. He also served in a number of town offices and had been chairman of the board of selectmen. He survived his wife, Sarah B. Pennell, about four years, and leaves two daughters, Mrs. L. M. McGouldrick of Machias and Miss Gertrude Foster of Dorchester, Mass. He is also survived by a brother and sister, Eugene C. Foster of Dorchester, Mass., and Miss Caroline Foster of Machias, also by three grandsons. The town suffers a distinct loss in the death of Mr. Foster, who was intensely loyal to the interests of Machias and active in everything to promote the. welfare of the place and its people." See "Narrative of the Town of Machias, the Old and the New, the Early and Late," George Washington Drisko (1904), p. 421.

[24138] John m. (1) Margaret de Rackheath (b. ca. 1359) according to the unverified information in the Cahill Family web site on Ancestry World Tree.
[25042] This line is from a posting in One World Tree on Ancestry.com, and is not verified. Ancestry.com states this is an alternate spelling and offers: "Ziegler Name Meaning - German and Jewish (Ashkenazic): occupational name for a tiler, from an agent derivative of Middle High German ziegel roof tile (Old High German ziagal, from Latin tegula), German Ziegel. In the Middle Ages the term came to denote bricks as well as tiles, and so in some cases the term may have denoted a brickmaker or bricklayer rather than a tiler."
