[61162] "The Ellsworth American {Ellsworth, Maine]," 29 December 2025: "Fernald Roger Leach passed away on Dec. 21, 2025, at NL Blue Hill Hospital in Blue Hill. He was 86 years old. Fern was born on March 22, 1939, in Castine to Linwood and Helen (Perkins) Leach. He grew up in Penobscot and attended the Penobscot school and graduated from George Stevens Academy. He attended auto body school in Ohio and returned with a lifelong passion for restoring old vehicles to original specifications. He started his own auto body shop in Piper Square on Water Street in Blue Hill. He also worked at the KerrAmerican mines and St. Regis Paper before working as a caretaker for many summer estates. He worked many years as the superintendent for the Blue Hill Wastewater Treatment plant as well as a dedicated member of the Planning Board. He had foresight for the development of South Street in Blue Hill, creating the former South Street Market as well as several other commercial properties in his capacity as a real estate broker. He bought, sold and collected antiques and attended auctions. In his later years, he fully restored two vehicles: 1954 Mercury SunValley and 1953 Ford Indianapolis Pace Car Replica convertible."
[39917] Ancestry.com offers: "Mayberry Name Meaning - English and Irish: of uncertain origin; most probably an altered form of Mowbray. It is also found as Maybury, which has the form of an English habitational name. There is a place near Woking in Surrey so called; however, this is not recorded until 1885 and is probably derived from the surname. In England this surname is found mainly in the West Midlands; it has also spread into Wales. In Ireland this form is common in Ulster; MacLysaght records that it was taken there from England in the 17th century."
[31412] Peter is son of Jacob Mertz and Anna Fuchs. Peter m. 8 April 1697 in Reinach, Germany Maria Brandli.
