[57814] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 10 March 2023: "Exeter - Joseph Prescott Eaton, 76, a lifelong farmer from Exeter, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones and the love of his family and friends, especially the Tuddy Strout family. Joe was born to Linwood N. and Jane (Lougee) Eaton, the oldest of five children. Growing up on a large dairy farm in Penobscot County he spent his youngest years playing in the fields and forest. In the early spring there was sap to harvest from the 3,000 maple trees and making maple syrup. In the spring picking rocks, in the summertime, cutting, raking and bailing hay to transport and stack in the barn. Then harvesting hundreds of acres of corn for silage to feed the over 200 head of Holstein cattle. There was always work on mechanical equipment in need of repair, hen houses to clean out and sawdust to load and haul for bedding. And, of course, there was the milking, twice a day, every day. Joe was a longtime member of the Small Woodlot Owners Association of Maine. He said he had a good life and has now gone to tend his fields. Joseph is survived by his wife and love of over 50 years, Sharon (Henderson) Eaton; son, Joseph "Jody" of Las Vegas, NV, his wife, Melisa Knight-Henderson and their children, and Joe's grandson, Roman; Joe's siblings, Robert and wife Claudia Eaton, Richard C. Eaton, Lois M. Eaton and John O. Eaton; many nieces and nephews who called Uncle Joe a prankster and young at heart; and many cousins. Private interment will be held at the Corinthian Cemetery, Corinth."
