After retirement he operated a saw-filing shop. He is survived by his wife, Juanita, with whom he recently celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary; one son, David of Shelby; one grandson; one great-grandson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Barkdull Funeral Home by the Rev. Chester R. Jose. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery."

Fran's greatest joys were her family, her church, and her Northeast Harbor community, where she spent her adult life. She was a member of the Seaside United Church of Christ in Northeast Harbor. She worked for approximately thirty-five years at the Mt. Desert Dry Cleaners in Northeast Harbor. Fran is survived by her sons, Douglass Jr., and Russell and his wife, Gayle, all of Northeast Harbor; eight grandchildren, Jennifer, Bradley, Aaron, Adam, Allison, RoseAnna, Benjamin, and Gabriel; 11 1/2 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary McFarland of Ellsworth, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Douglass Sr.; her daughter, Marie Lunt; and five siblings, Al, Ruth, Viva, Ben, and Jeannette."
