[28158] Christina Straub in "Straubs, Smiths and Extended Family" on rootsweb.com in 2007 states "Albert was a carpenter by trade when young, but later became a farmer. He bought from Samuel Johnston the Rowe farm which adjoins the Willhide farm north of New Germantown. Albert continued to farm this farm since the death of his second wife, he lived with his son Zeph. Albert carried on extensive lumbering operation in Toboyn Township. His first wife, called Nannie, was a daughter of Samuel Elder and wife of Dry Run, PA." "The Perry County Democrat, 7 December 1927," p. 1: "Albert C. Willhide, son of Captain Zephaniah and Elizabeth (Sheibley) Willhide, was born at the tannery property west of New Germantown, Perry county, Pa., November 29, 1847, and died November 22, 1927, aged 79 years, 11 months and 23 days. Mr. Willhide was a millwright and farmer, having owned a farm at New Germantown until a few years ago, when it was sold to E. C. Dillman. In 1871 he married Nancy Jane Elder, of Dry Run. Franklin county, Pa., who died December 12, 1897. They were the parents of the following named children: Daisy Ladelle, died in 1910; Zephaniah M., of Carlisle, Pa.; Frank M. and Edith S., (twins) died in infancy, and May, wife of M. Y. Sowers, Conshohocken, Pa. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two brothers, Arnold, of California, and Elmer, of Ohio, and one sister, Mrs. A. R. Johnston, of New Bloomfield, Pa. He was later married to Mrs. Susan Sollenberger, of Newville, Pa., who died July 9, 1921. He has since been making his home with his son. Mr. Willhide enjoyed good health most of his life and was active until three days before his death, when he suffered a heart attack Tuesday morning he arose at 5 o'clock with the intention of hauling the milk to the Kruger Dairy, which was his usual trip in the morning. His son, having business in town, took the milk and 'Grandpa,' as he was fa miliarly known, remained in the house until 8 o'clock, when he went to the barn to help with the chores and a short time later he was found lying by the strawstack by his grandson, Culver Willhide. Aid was summoned but life was gone. His death has caused much grief to all who knew him. He was held in high esteem and was always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed. His home was a home for several of his relatives, who were left motherless when young. He was a good conversationalist, although during later years his hearing was much impaired. He was a member of the M. E. Church of New Germantown, having joined that denomination when a young man. He was also a member of the New Germantown P. O. S. of A. and I. O. O. F. of Blain. Pa. Funeral services were held Friday evening at his late home, conducted by Rev. H. B. Stock, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Carlisle, and further services Saturday in the M. E. Church at New Germantown. Interment in the cemetery adjoining. The lodges attended and had services at the grave. One of the floral tributes contained seventy-nine chrysanthemums, one for each year of his age. The pallbearers were Luther Rhea, Edward Roth, Roy Lebo, Philip Snyder, Clarence Hair and Frank Wentz, all of Carlisle."
