[50871] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 12 June 1998, p. 16: "Bangor and Ellsworth - Marvin Jordan Willey, 97, died peacefully June 12, 1998 at a Bangor health care facility. He was born in Cherryfield Aug. 22, 1900, the son of Ernest L. and Carrie (Babidge) Willey He worked as a butcher for many years then worked in the Ellsworth Laundry until retirement. He was well-known in the Bangor area and had many friends here. He was a resident of the Bangor House for 17 years being one of the first and eldest residents there. He is survived by one son, Dr. Rev. Marvin D. Willey of Long Beach. Calif.; three daughters, Jacqueline Mace of Amherst, Gloria Fields of Gardiner and Beverly Jones of Hermon who had tended him over the years; 23 grandchildren 27 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris E. (Spencer) Willey in 1933; a daughter, Shirley Goulette of Augusta; five brothers, Ernest, Bernard, Sanford, Lawrence and Reginald; three sisters, Ina Kenny, Marcia LaFurley McGown and Lucy Stock. He will be greatly missed by his granddaughter, Sylvia Perry of Hermon, who had been his trusted friend and confidant."
