He was born at New Limerick, Dec. 17, 1877, the son of Osgood and Sara (Hayes) Bradbury. Bradbury had been a resident here most of his life and he was a well-known farmer. Surviving are his widow, Laura (Kinney) Bradbury of Bridgewater; three son,s Earl and Eldon, both of Bridgewater, and Leon of Hartford, Conn.; 14 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. Friends may call at the Dunn Funeral Home of Houlton Wednesday from 7-9 pm Funeral services will be held at the Dunn Funeral home in Houlton Thursday at 2 pm with the Rev. Morris Hutchins officiating. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery at Bridgewater."

Born in Mount Desert on May 13, 1926, she was the daughter of Adelard and Virginia (Sharon) Cirard. On Sept. 21, 1942, she married Ora B. Warren in Seal Harbor. Lillian and Ora lived in Orland for many years where they raised their seven children. Lillian enjoyed playing in a bowling league in Bucksport in her younger years and loved her life as a homemaker. On Vinalhaven, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, loved playing bingo, cards and dominoes. Surviving are her seven children, Robert L. Warren and his wife, Lillian, Ora B. "Buddy" Warren Jr., Therma Young and her husband, Ronald, all of Vinalhaven, Virginia Paige and her husband, Doug, of Orland, Debbie Moreland and her husband, John, of Vinalhaven, David Warren of Orland and Wilmont Warren of Orono; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Charlotte Makela of Scarborough. She was predeceased by her husband, Ora B. Warren Sr. in 2003; and several brothers and sisters. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Aug. 22 at 2 p.m. at Pleasant River Chapel in Vinalhaven."

Some weeks after his recovery, namely in the middle of the following Lent, James was seized by another sickness and breathed his last. His mother had set out to church to attend divine service; members of the household had remained at home. There was no one found to announce the the death of the boy to the mother, lest he should be said to have been the cause of the calamity. At length a little boy, the brother of the dead infant, ran to the church (it is known for a fact that no boy keeps a secret) and exclaimed over and over again to his mother, "Madam, my brother is dead. Madam, my brother is dead." At once she turned pale and jumped up, and throwing off her cloak ran back to the house. She found the infant taken out of the chamber into the large outer hall, with his mouth open, but inwardly without breath, the tongue and lips retracted, the eyes sunk and with only the white of the eye to be seen, cold and stiff, and so to speak briefly, well and truly dead. She seized him in her arms and said "St. Thomas, restore my son to me. When he had a hernia previously you restored him to health. Now he is dead restore him to life, holy martyr." Moreover she ran and took the relics of the saint which she had brought from Canterbury out of a chest. She put the blood of the saint on the mouth of the dead infant and thrust a piece of the cloth into his throat, continuously crying and saying "Holy martyr, Thomas, give me back my son. He will be brought to your tomb if he revives. I will visit you on bare feet. Hear me." But all the knights who stood by, and also the countess of warwick and the rest of the women, told her to be quiet. Yet she knelt with bare knees again and again on the ground, and cried much more, "Holy martyr, have mercy on me." Then her chaplain Lambert, a respected man of good age, spoke: "How are you behaving, my lady? You are acting foolishly. You are being stupid. What you are doing and saying smacks of madness. Surely the Creator should be allowed to do what he wishes with his creature. Stop! Put down the infant, and let him be treated as dead. It is the height of stupidity for you to strive for what is impossible to obtain." Everyone spoke similarly. However, she said, "I will certainly not stop, nor will I put down the infant, for I trust that he will be given back to me. Martyr, glorious martyr, most pious , beloved martyr, have mercy on me; give me back my son." After she had cried in this way for about two hours, the martyr had mercy and restored her infant to life. First there was a sign of red on his face, and after a while he cried and opened his eyes. They blessed the Lord who gives death and life, and goes down to the depths and back. There was great joy in the house, and rejoicing replaced the extremes of grief: "for they obtained joy and gladness; sadness and groans fled away." The countess, mother of the restored boy, took on unaccustomed toil, and setting out to Canterbury on bare feet with the boy performed her promised pilgrimage. There followed the countess of Warwick and many other women, and also the chaplain called Lambert, and many knights who all testified that they had seen the boy both truly dead and truly restored to life.

[489] In 2003 http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/1094/whitcomb.htm offers: "This particular branch of Whitcomb's goes back to Thomas Whitcomb who was born in the year 1444 in England. William Whitcomb, who was born in 1528, was given a "share in Virginia" by his father-in-law, John Harper. William in turn gave this share to his second son, John. This gift was made due to the fact that as a younger brother John would not have inherited his fathers land due to the law of primogeniture in effect in England. John Whitcomb was born about 1588. He married Frances Coggin or Cogan on November 26, 1623 at Saint Mary Magdalene Church in Tauton, Somerset, England. She was the daughter of Henry Coggin, who was a weaver. He and his wife, Joan Borridge, had 8 daughters, all of whom were christened and married at St. Mary Magdaline Church. Henry himself was buried there on December 1, 1612. The above information is not accepted by all concerned, the book 'Search for the Passengers of the Mary and John' acknowledges the possibility of this line back to Thomas but does not believe there is proof of it. They claim that John Whitcomb may be related to two brothers; Robert and Symon Whitcombe, who were among the financial supporters of Rev. John White of Dorchester who recruited many settlers from Dorset and Somerset families to settle in New England. Both were merchants who also had dealings with Sir Walter Raleigh. Their father was John Whitcombe of Sherborne who died in 1598. John and his wife Frances and six children sailed to New England on the "Hopewell" in 1635. They first settled in Dorchester, MA, and later moved to Scituate, MA in 1640 and were among the first settlers in lancaster in 1654. they had ten children; Catherine Ellms (1624-1688), John (1626-1683, Jonathan (1628-1690), Robert (1628/9-1696), James (1631-1686, Joanne (1632-), Job (1636-1683), Josiah (1636-1683), Abigail (1642-) and Mary Moore (1647-1695). John died a rich man on September 24, 1662. His wife, Frances, died on May 17, 1671. Both died in Lancaster, MA." Biography: Barbara Elizabeth Zeller, b. ca 1720; d. after 1760; m. 1738, Jonas Lerew (Lerue, Larue, Le Rouch, Laroux), bapt. 24 June 1716; d. Intestate in Paxton Township, Lancaster Co., 1 January 1760, son of Jonas Laroux. (42) In 1742 his father granted him 60 acres on Tulehocken Creek, and 150 acres to his brother George Lerue. In 1751 Jonas Lerue, jr. of Paxtang, and his wife Barbara with George Lerue of E.Caln, Chester County, sold their tracts to Michael Copenhaven. On May 4, 1760, George Lerue conveyed to the widow Barbara and her minor children: Henry, Catherine, Francis, Mary, George, Elizabeth, and Margaret, 135 acres in Paxton Township which George had sold to his brother Jonas in 1753, but had made no deed before Jonas had died. Of the Lerue children, they were baptized at Trinty Reformed Church, Tulehocken: John George Lerue, January 1749, sponsor 'J.G.Zoeller; 'Elizabeth, 2 Jun 1754, as daughter of Jonas le Rouch and Anna Barbara Elizabeth, sponsored by Andrew Salzgeber and Elizabeth Ferrer, single. (Balt., 1992) 39-28 gives his wife as Margaret, living in 1220, and probably in 1232, and shows her as mother of his children (?). He resided Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, & N. Molton, Devonshire.
