Thirdly, wife of William Ascue, Gentleman of the Privy Chambers of King Charles I. They had at least one daughter, Dorothy, who married Sir John Temple. Dorothy was a legatee in her mother's will of 1637, and left her own will dated 14 Jan 1653, proved 11 May 1653, requesting burial near her late husband, William Ascue."
[53669] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 28 February 2000, p. 15: "Addison - Joseph Bertram Crandon, 70, of Addison passed away peacefully Friday Feb. 25, 2000 at a Machias hospital after a courageous fight against cancer. He was born at Addison July 8, 1929, a son of Ray and Hazel (Davis) Crandon. When he was six he went to live with his grandparents, Riley and Myrtle Davis, of Indian River where he had a very happy and secure childhood. In 1955 he married Alice Strout, the daughter of Lawrence and Sylvia Strout of Milbridge, and the couple had four children Mary Moore and Arthur Dawes of Addison, Joseph Riley and Kristy Crandon of Liberty, Alice Elaine Rugh and special friend Tony of Franklin, and Lona and Donny Hillman of Overland Park, Kansas. In 1990, he married his second wife, Patricia Merchant, wife of the late Oral F. Merchant. Mrs. Merchant had four children, Forest and Kathy Merchant of Harrington, Nola and James Perry of Cherryfield, Anthony and Tammy Merchant of Addison and Timothy and Tarra Merchant of Addison. Between the two of them they had 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mr Crandon courageously served his country during the Korean War. Joseph was a woodsman, a lobsterman, and a truck driver. Some of his happiest working hours were spent on his lobster boat. He also enjoyed his many friends including Phillip and Bea Dobbins of Addison, Ronald and Charlene Grey of Addison, and John and Brenda Crowley of Addison; a very special friend, Juanita Ryan of Bangor. Mr. Crandon also had many special family friends and was close to his brother and sisters-in-law on both sides. Joseph loved and cherished his family and showed his love in many ways to all and everyone of them. Mr. Crandon was predeceased by his mother and father, his grandparents his sister, Greta McKinnon; and his first wife, Alice in 1983; and his son Joseph Riley Crandon in 1991." Joseph is son of Ray Phillip Crandon (1905-1968) & Hazel Lovina Davis (1909-1995; m. 20 February 1927 in St. Stephen, Charlotte, New Brunswick, Canada).
