Fulk V was "King of Jerusalem" (1131-1143) as a Crusader. His wife was Ermenburge "of La Fleche" (aka Erembourg of Maine); after her death he married Melisande, eldest daughter of Baldwin II (King of Jerusalem, whom Fulk V succeeded as its third royal ruler) - this marriage occured in 1129. An eye-witness, Archbishop William of Tyre, described Fulk as "...a ruddy man, like David...faithful and gentle, affable and kind...a powerful prince...and very successful in ruling his own people...an experienced warrior full of patience and wisdom in military affairs."{-"The Plantagenet Chronicles," ed. by E. Hallam, p.38.}
http://www.pillagoda.freewire.co.uk/BOW.htm reports: "Fulk V was born about 1092 and became an ally of the English who, by the Treaty of Gisors (March/April 1113), recognised his right to succeed his father-in-law in Maine when he died in 1109. In 1119 Fulk's daughter, Matilda of Anjou, married William the Atheling (Henry's I's son by Edith Matilda of Scotland, descendant of the Saxon Atheling). Under the terms of the Treaty of Gisors, Henry I was recognised as overlord of Maine and Brittany. When Henry I's son William the Atheling died in the wreck of the "White Ship" on 25.11.1120, William's wife Matilda of Anjou went into a convent. Fulk's second daughter Sybille of Anjou married William Clito, son of Henry I's brother Robert Curthose, Duke of Normandy but the marriage was annulled and Sybille married Thierry or Dierick, Count of Flanders. Fulk V was a short, fat, coarse, red-haired man, a good and experienced soldier, of an affable, generous, patient and prudent nature. He was aged 39 or 40 when he went to Jerusalem after the death of his first wife Ermentrude, was given Melisande, heiress of Jerusalem as his second wife and became king there. He was involved in the dispute regarding the inheritance of Antioch, defeated the Saracen Zengi and fought against John Comnenus, Emperor of Constantinople who tried to capture Antioch which he claimed as his inheritance. Zenghi attacked a second time and Fulk was defeated, taking refuge in the castle of Montferrand. Fulk's son-in-law Dierick or Thierry of Flanders arrived in the Holy Land, crossing the Jordan to rid the area of brigands but the Turks took this opportunity of attacking South Palestine. During the last year of his life Fulk built the castle of Kerak in Moab, Ibelin on the site of Gath, 10 miles from Ascalon and Blanchegarde at Tell-es-Safiyeh, 8 miles from Ascalon. Fulk died of a fractured skill in 1144 when his horse fell whilst hunting a hare."

[54820] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]," 22 September 2023: "Portland - Dwight M. Haslam, 93, of Chapman Street died peacefully on Tuesday, Sept.19, 2023, at the Barron Center in Portland following a long and courageous battle with dementia. Dwight was born in Eastbrook on Dec. 6, 1929, the son of the late Harold and Mildren (Bartlett) Haslam. He graduated from Lee Academy in the Class of 1947. In 1951, Dwight enlisted and served in the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. On Feb. 4, 1955, Dwight married the love of his life, Estelle L. Farrar, in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada. Together they shared more than 68 years of marriage. Dwight was a life member of the Masonic Temple and the Anah Temple Shrine. Dwight lived in Eastbrook for a time while he worked at the Macomber Mill. He then moved to Houlton to drive truck, hauling potatoes for his brothers farm. It is in Houlton that he met Estelle and the rest of the love story is history. Together, Dwight and Estelle moved to the Ellsworth area from 1958 until 1974 when they made their permanent home in Portland, where they raised their family. While in Portland, he continued to drive truck for several different companies including Webber Oil, where he was awarded truck driver of the year. His career in truck driving spanned more than 40 years. In his spare time, he loved working on his 1941 Chevy - he had a passion for antique cars and trucks. He enjoyed spending time at the family camp in Eastbrook on Molasses Pond, where they would host many family gatherings. He enjoyed his daily morning walk of 3 miles, which he did well in to his 90s, he loved to talk and tinker and was always up for a good cup of coffee and socializing. Dwight was predeceased by three brothers, Wayne, Donnie, and Dusty, and one sister, Donna Barrows. He is survived by his wife, Estelle Haslam of Portland; a daughter, Jane and her husband William Taylor of Gray; a son, James Haslam and his companion Michele Plourde of Gorham; five grandchildren, Jessica and Quinton Donahue, Kasey and David Brady, Maximilian Haslam, Beauregard Haslam, Lyle Haslam; great-grandchildren, Carter Brady, Bailey Brady and Saul Haslam; several nieces and nephews."
