He was born on Oct. 1, 1928, son of Ernest and Dorothy (Young) Hopkins. George was Trentons unofficial mayor and native whose family had a long history of serving their community. Over his long valued life he was a farmer, a logger, a pilot, a service man and proud veteran, a Scout leader, a past Master Mason of Warren Lodge No. 2 and a dual member of David Hooper Lodge, member of the Trenton Grange, member of the Trenton Historical Society, a businessman, past president of his local chamber of commerce, selectman, sign officer and appeals board member, chair for many years of the Hancock County Airport Advisory Committee, a friend, confidant, surrogate Dad to many and first and foremost a happy family man. George was predeceased by the love of his life, Pat. He is survived by his daughter and son Patti Ann Billings and Ernest Hopkins of Trenton, grandson Benjamin and wife, Genevieve M Billings, of Lamoine, great-granddaughter Tabatha Black of Clinton, Conn., and many nieces, nephews and friends across the miles. He will be dearly missed by so many."
