[61272] "The Bangor Daily News [ Bangor, Maine]," 14 January 2026: "Milford, Maine - Melvyn 'Mel' Gene Coffin, 85, passed away peacefully at home on January 8, 2026, with his sons by his side. He was born on July 10, 1940, in Lee, Maine, to Audrey and Erdine (Gifford) Coffin. Mel grew up on 'Skunk Hill' in a family with limited resources, teaching him from an early age the value of hard work and the importance of family. On July 29, 1960, Mel married the love of his life, Sylvia 'Jane' Coffin. Early in their marriage, they spent several years in Norfolk, Virginia, while Mel proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Intrepid. After his service, they returned to Bangor, Maine, where they raised their two boys. Throughout his career, Mel worked various jobs before retiring from Maine Test Borings. He loved the outdoors; hunting, fishing, and spending summers on Branch Lake. He enjoyed road trips with Jane and had a lifelong passion for motorcycles, which he continued riding into his 80s. In addition to his parents, Mel was predeceased by his beloved wife, Jane; siblings, Wilma, Leta, Joan, Merton, and Gail; and his grandson, Joshua Coffin. He is survived by his sons, Donnie (Jackie) Coffin of Milford, and Scott (Vicki) Coffin of Glenburn; grandchildren, Stacey (Jon) Tarr of Simpsonville, South Carolina, Ryan (Susannah) Coffin, of Brunswick, and Heather (Jared) Stephens of Jefferson; and nine great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Connor, Blake, Grayson, Jaxon, Abram, Hadley, Avery, and Paige."

[10102] "Valley Morning Star [Harlingen, Texas], 15 March 1938," p. 2: "Weslaco - The funeral of William A. Kuder, 47, superintendent of the Rio Grande Valley Citrus Exchange grapefruit peel dehydration plant, will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday from the Martin-Nelson Mortuary. A brother, John M. Kuder, is coming here by plane and train from Florida. The decadent is survived by his wife, one other brother, Walter, of Florida and three children. Rev. J. E. Lovett of the First Methodist Church will conduct the services at the mortuary, which will be followed by interment in the Weslaco cemetery. Kuder went to his room in a local hotel Friday afternoon, complaining that he did not feel well. That night he apparently had recovered and listened with interest to a radio report of the Baer-Farr boxing match. A short time later he retired and Mrs. Kuder heard him groan. When she reached him she found he had passed away."
