[10163] Elizabeth is daughter of Henry C. Freeman (1863-1944) and Mary Harriett Spencer (1860-1952). Elizabeth m. (2?) the Rev. Walter A. Grosh who died before her - they had two sons, the Rev. LeRoy Grosh and the Rev. Henry Grosh. She was a member of the Ghent Christian Church, the American Assoc.of Univ. Women, League of Women Voters, a 50-year member of the Bath Grange, etc. "The Akron Beacon Journal [Akron, Ohio], 13 Feb 1980," p. 39: "Mrs. Elizabeth Grosh, 88, of 3542 Granger Road, Bath, known to generations of area school children as 'Grandma' Grosh, died Tuesday at Akron City Hospital. Mrs. Grosh, widow of the late Rev. Walter Grosh, was a school teacher from 'the good old days,' beginning her career in 1909 in a one-room school on Shade Road in what was then know as East Bath. In those days, room and board for teachers was furnished by parents of the pupils and Mrs. Grosh moved from home to home. Salary was $40 a month. Mrs. Grosh went from East Bath to Hurd's Corners and from there to a four-grade school in Ghent. She quit at one time because of ill health in her family, but returned to teaching at Sherbondy Hill in Copley Township and was a regular substitute in practically all of the Akron schools. In 1944 she returned to Bath School and remained there until she retired in 1960. A resident in the Ghent area most of her life, her home on Granger Road was a former woolen mill built in 1832."
