"The Tipton Times [Tipton, Missouri], 3 April 1959," p. 5: "Walter Crockett Swarner who lived In Tipton for many years was buried Friday March 27 at the Odd Fallows cemetery. He was born March 7, 1887 at Clarksburg. Mr Swarner who died suddenly of a heart attack on Monday, March 30, at Mercedes, Texas, had lived there since 1926. He had been an elder in the Presbyterian Church of Mercedes where he had held the position of Clerk of the Session and Superintendent of the Sunday School. The Rev. B. W. Downing of the Presbyterian Church officiated at services in Mercedes on Tuesday, March 24, at 4:00 p. m. In tribute to Mr. Swarner the minister said that he was 'a consistent Christian a devoted husband and father, a loyal church member, and a good man'."
