[13732] See notes for his brother, Emanuel. "Shamokin News-Dispatch, 18 March 1935,": "Daniel G. Seller, well known citizen, retired business man and sportsman, died suddenly this morning at 8:45 at the home of his son, R. Stanley Seller, West Lincoln street, after a serious decline In health extending over a period of several months. Death was due to heart disease brought on by the infirmities of advanced years. Danlel G. Seller, son of Daniel and Sarah (Geist) Seller, was born at the family homestead at Hepler, Mahantonga Valley, on September 20, 1851. After acquiring the rudiments of a business training In his home community, Mr. Seller moved to this city In 1879, entering a business partnership with John K. Haas, a brother-in-law, by opening a general store at the corner of Sixth and Spruce streets. In 1882 the deceased moved to Globe Mills, Snyder county, where he was the proprietor of a general store for five years. He returned to this city in the fall of 1887. The gradual advance in business expansion was marked that year by launching a grocery store on East Independence street, opposite the present Capitol theatre building, with Jacob Zartman as partner. As business opportunities developed with the growth of the community. Mr. Seiler started a wholesale produce business in 1889, located on Water street, on a site at the rear of the Penn-Lee hotel. The firm assumed the name of D. G. Seiler & Company. Realizing the need of larger and improved quarters, the business was moved in 1892 to the brick building at Cleaver and Commerce streets, on the property formerly owned by George W. and Albert Marshall. The building was the first substantial structure erected in the block, preceding the Seiler, Zimmerman & Company building and the P. O. S. of A. building, now the Capitol theatre location. Mr. Seiler successfully continued the wholesale produce business with the assistance of his sons until 1916 when he retired from active business pursuits. The deceased was married to Jemima Weicksel, daughter of the Rev. Henry Weicksel, of Line Mountain, in October, 1876. preceded her husband in death 14 years ago. Mr. Seller was a member and attendant at Trinity Lutheran church. . . . Four sons and a daughter survive, as follows: Victor A., Walter H., Herbert C., and R. Stanley Seiler, of this city, all of whom are noted for their musical attainments. Eight grandchildren and one great-grandson also survive. One brother. Emanuel G.
