F, 101st Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company June 25, 1865. He married Caroline J. Saylor in 1872 and fathered Annie (b. @1872 - married a Carl), Cyrus Knight (b. 07/06/78), Howard C. (b. 03/21/81), Harry Edward (b. 10/31/86), Roy G. (b. 07/??/91), and Lulu Edith (b. 09/??/91). By 1890, he was living with his family in Saville Township, Perry County. He was the son of Frederick & Margaret Elizabeth (Houck) Harter." "The Perry County Democrat [New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania]," 24 January 1934, p. 3: "George W. Harter, former resident of Bloomfield, and Civil War veteran, died yesterday at the home of his son, Harry Harter, in Lemoyne. He was 84 years old and is survived by three sons in addition to Harry Harter, Willis Harter, of Girard, Ohio; Cyrus Harter, of Lemoyne; Howard Harter, of Canonsburg; two daughters, Mrs. C. A.
