[57492] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 13 October 1932, p. 7: "Funeral services for Fred were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the home on Pleasant street and were largely attended by relatives, neighbors and friends; members of Piscataquis Lodge A. F. and A. M. were present in a body. Rev. J. W. Meisner conducted the service speaking words of comfort to the bereaved widow and children. Seldom has such a profusion of beautiful flowers been seen as those sent by sympathizing relatives and friends, As a token of respect all of business were closed during the funeral. The burial was in the Milo cemetery, the Masonic committal service held at the grave. The bearers were his son Jerome Strout, son-in-law Thomas Murray and old friends, L. Starr and Fred Harris, Lawrence Doble and Chauncy Monroe. Fred M. Strout whose death occurred Monday, was born in Atkinson Oct. 31, 1863, the son of Benjamin Rosanna Strout, but has been a resident of Milo for the past 50 years. On May 31, 1891 he was united in marriage with Miss Effie Cunningham of Bradford who with their three children, Mrs. T. A. Murray of Hampden Highlands, W. Jerome Strout, Houlton, and Miss Bernice Strout, Milo, survive him. He also leaves two grandchildren, Thomas Murray Jr. and Margaret Murray, Hampden Highlands. Mr. Strout was for many years engaged in the dry goods and grocery business and later held large lumbering interests. He was a valued member of Piscataquis Lodge of Chamber of Commerce in which he was greatly interested until he sutained a severe shock in February from which he partially rallied and was able to be about the house until June when a gradual decline continued until the last weeks when he failed rapidly. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved family. . . . "
