[57177] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 3 September 2024: "Bradley - On August 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving wife and children, Harold 'Buz' Laskey passed away quietly. Buz and his life, however, were anything but quiet. He was one of nine children, born in Great Works, Maine, to Samuel H. Laskey and Grace (Wickett) Laskey. At Old Town's High School, class of 1955, he and his friends formed a band called the 'Five Pennies,' Buz on trumpet. He went on to bugle his way through two years of active duty in the Navy, and 6 years in the reserves, during which he attended the University of Maine at Orono and earned a BA in Business Administration-Accounting. It was there, in the 'Bears Den' that he met Donna Pollard, the love of his life. On a dare from his friends, he asked her out. After giving Donna his Phi Eta Kappa pin, he and she married in 1959, not waiting til his graduation in 1961. Buz began his career as an insurance adjuster with the General Adjustment Bureau. He and Donna moved out of state for his work, but they missed Maine, and returned home in 1970. He launched his own business as an independent insurance adjuster before purchasing the A.G. Averill Insurance Agency in Old Town in 1983. He became a member of the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors, later coaching daughter, Sue, to do the same, and expanded the agency to Cumberland, in partnership with Marilyn Matthews, to whom he later sold the business. Serving for 25 years as a Tax Assessor for the City of Old Town; 26 years for the Board of Commissioners for the Housing Authority (a new building named 'Laskey Court' upon retirement); tireless volunteer hours upholding the motto 'Service Above Self' as a Paul Harris Fellow in the Rotary Club, Buz's service to his community left a lasting impact on many. And through it all, he kept moving. He was a runner in high school and for many years until his knees said 'no more,' then he became a passionate cyclist. He completed 13 'Treks Across Maine,' riding 180-miles over three days to benefit the American Lung Association. At age 79, accompanied by his daughter, Pam, and his best biking buddies, he finished his last Trek. All his life Buz found joy in the simple pleasures of family, friendship, and community. And he cherished his life in Maine. Summers, when he and Donna, at their retirement home on Deer Isle, entertained family and friends from the USA and Canada, Buz lead kayakers around the islands, played competitive horseshoes, and served up lobster bakes. In the fall, he looked forward to the annual bird hunting trips with his brother-in-law, John Pollard, nephew, Scott Young, son, Hal, and grandson, Nate - even in later years, when Buz mostly heater-hunted and it was Nate who brought home the partridge dinner. Winters, at his hunting camp, the 'Gold Mine,' he and Donna hosted snowmobiling and snowshoeing outings with roasted hot dogs over a fire. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and community member, Buz dedicated himself to the people and place he loved. Always ready with a helping hand, support, and encouragement, he showed by example how to work hard, set goals, and make things happen with a work/life balance. All of us who knew him and loved him will miss his warm smile and sense of humor. Buz was predeceased by his parents; his brothers, Samuel Laskey Jr., Henry Laskey, and Thomas Laskey; and his sisters, Mae Goodin and Sandra Drennen. He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Pollard Laskey, with whom he shared 65 beautiful years of marriage; and their family, Pamela Laskey; Susan Laskey Curtis and her husband, Tony and their daughter, Elizabeth; Harold 'Hal' Laskey Jr. and his daughter, Hannah and son, Nathaniel; his sisters, Sylvia Weatherbee and Shirley Folsom; brother, Douglas and his wife, Iris Laskey; and many loved nieces and nephews."
[45077] Cindy Broscious unverified tree in Ancestry.com in 2019 offers: Rudolph Rudy Moyer was born in 1682 in Germany. He had five sons with Barbara Meyer between 1722 and 1748. He died in January 1767 in Tulpehocken, Pennsylvania, having lived a long life of 85 years, and was buried in Berks, Pennsylvania.
[59639] The unverified file LTM7-KBK in familysearch.org offers: "When Elsie Julia Norton was born on 20 January 1898, in Jonesport, Washington, Maine, United States, her father, Sylvanus Rodney Norton, was 43 and her mother, Priscilla Eleanor Alley, was 38. She married Asa Merrill Tracy II on 9 November 1912, in Jonesport, Washington, Maine, United States. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 1 daughter. She died on 10 September 1959, in Jonesport, Washington, Maine, United States, at the age of 61, and was buried in Jonesport, Washington, Maine, United States."
