[56909] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 1 August 2015: "Stockton Springs And Bangor - Nathaniel J. Crowley, Sr., 98, passed away July 31 at the Maine State Veterans' Home in Bangor. He was born in Chelsea, Mass. on May 14, 1917, the son of James and Eva Crowley. He was a 1942 graduate of the University of Maine where he earned Bachelor and Masters Degrees. While at Maine he was a Sophomore Owl and Senior Skull and earned nine varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball. After college, his sports career included semi-pro basketball and baseball for the Bangor Potters and the Sebec Lakers. Nat was a World War II Veteran having served in the Army Air Corps as a top-turret gunner in the B 24s. Following his service career, he taught and coached at Stearns, John Bapst, Deering and Lewiston high schools. His coaching success included undefeated seasons in football, Western A Championships in basketball and his Lewiston High School team reached the finals in the 1960 New England basketball tournament. Nat was elected to the Sports Halls of Fame at John Bapst, Lewiston, University of Maine Hall of Fame, Maine State Hall of Fame and the New England Basketball Hall of Fame. His career also included Guidance Director for Lewiston Schools, Dean of Students at the University of Maine at Fort Kent, and administrator at Husson. Following his long and distinguished career as an educator and coach, Nat served 12 years as a State Representative from 1980 to 1992 serving District 112 including his hometown of Stockton Springs. Nat was predeceased by his wife of 72 years Esther Whitman Crowley of Dover Foxcroft and together they have 10 children, 25 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Nat is survived by: eight children and their spouses; Nathaniel, Jr. and Julie of Hampden, Michael and Joanne of Stockton Springs, Roger and Louise of East Montpelier VT, Christopher and Paulette of Lewiston, Elanna Farnham and Willard of Brewer, Timothy and Mary of Caribou, Patrick and Cindylee of Bangor, and Constance Bunker of Amherst, MA. He was predeceased by two daughters, Kathy (Mrs. Gordon) Fuller of Hallowell and Anita (Mrs. Lloyd) Christie of California, and a great-granddaughter Mackenzie Crowley."

[4585] He was in Miami Co., Indiana ca. 1880 and in Fulton Co. ca. 1888. His obituary, published in "The Rochester Sentinel", 8 Nov 1920: "Timothy H. B. Henderson, 76, a resident of Rochester for the past 31 years, died Saturday afternoon at his home in East Rochester a victim of pneumonia from which he had suffered for but four days. Mr. Henderson had been engaged as a flag man at the Erie crossing for the past seven years and was well known in this city. He was a member of the McClung Post, G.A.R. He had served in the 16th Ohio Infantry, enlisting in 1861. Later he was transferred to the 120th Ohio Infantry and served three years. He is survived by a brother, Samuel W. Henderson, of Central Lake, Mich., a sister, Mrs. Mary Secor, of Enid, Okla., and five children, Mrs. Carrie King, of Tracy, Calif., Mrs. Louis Chare, of Cleveland, O., Mrs. Bertha Clark, of Columbia City, Ind., William E. Henderson, of Elkhart and Mrs. Stella Cooper, of this city. Funeral services Monday afternoon at the Christian church. Burial at I.O.O.F. cemetery."

Fisher which outlines the history of the Andreas Schmeltz family. "Much of the family history centers around Ziegenhain, Germany. An account (in poetry format) of Captain Velten Muhly's story as the 'Master Guard' of Ziegenhain during the 30 Year War is given." (JSHA, P.O. Box 72, Valley View, PA 17983-0072). Andreas (with his brothers Adam and Johannes) enlisted in the LeibKompanie of the Regiment von Knyphausen at Zieganhain fortress in Hesse, Germany. They served with British forces in the American War for Independence and were captured at the Battle of Trenton. They were interned at Lancaster, PA and imprisoned in Philadelphia until war ended. They were paroled to Lancaster PA where brother Johannes lived out his life. Andreas lived for a period in Lancaster and moved with his family to Hubley Township in Schuylkill County, PA. It is rumored that brother Adam Schmeltz settled in the vicinity of Winchester VA.

"News-Journal [Mansfield, Ohio], 24 January 1994," p. 18: 'Wilma I. Weaver Plummer, 88, of 306 Maynard Ave. died Saturday as the result of an auto accident near Crestline. She was born Dec. 24, 1905, in Crestline to Ellzey and Emma M. Brown Weaver. She attended Crestline schools and Mansfield Business College. Mrs. Plummer was a nurse's aide for 32 years at Crestline Memorial Hospital. After her retirement, she volunteered at the hospital. She was a member of the Stewardess Circle of the Trinity Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church Women. She was also a member of the Crestline Golden Age Club and the Birthday Club. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Janet and Edmond Sand of Richmond, Ind., and Dolores Vaughn of Melbourne, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; three great great grandsons; a sister, Gertrude Tuttle of Crestline; and a brother, Ernest C. Weaver of Paradise, Mich. She was preceded in death by a son and two daughters."
