[15988] From Anne_Marie Natale-Howard [dehoward@guhsd.k12.az.us] 1 Aug 1998: "I have Thomas Hardy b. 1605 (England) married (1) Lydia (mother of children) married (2) Ann or Annah. Edwin Noah Hardy, B.A., M.A., Ph.D. - Greenwich, CT; Printed by The Syracuse Typesetting Co., Inc., Syracuse, NY. "This book is over 1300 pages. Archibald STITT
[46202]
1763 - 1 MAR 1849
Family 1
: Nancy Agnes NEWELL
Died in his residence in Dublin Township on Thursday, the 1st instant. Mr. ARCHIBALD STITT, in the 86th year of his age. Another good man has been "gathered to his fathers!" Through the course of a long and useful life, his conduct and character were ever such as to win the confidence and esteem of all with whom he was associated. A native of County Down in Ireland, he emigrated at an early day to this county, and in the year 1793 settled near Burnt Cabins. Among the many neighbours and friends who, from that time untill the day of his death, knew and esteemed him for his honest heart and christian virtues, his character need no eulogy. Of him we feel that we can without exaggeration say --
"None knew him but to love him;
None named him but to praise."
From his early life and exemplary professor of the Christian religion and for fory-two years an Elder in the Presbyterian Church at Shade Gap, there clustered around him the memories and the fellowship of age -- the respect of manhood -- the love and veneration of youth. Now that he has gone, they will derive consolation from the truth, that the tears which are shed over a good man's grave act upon the seed he has sown in the hearts of those he loved, like the dews of Heaven upon the thirsty earth. -
Huntingdon Journal, 13 March 1849.
