[21040] This line is documented in the notes for his grandson, Alexander. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/9210/MCLND.htm offers: "In the autumn of 1717 a vessel arrived in the harbor at Falmouth in Casco Bay with 20 families of emigrants from Ireland. They were descendents of a colony which went from Argleshire in Scotland and settled in the north of Ireland about the middle of the 17th century. They were rigid Presbyterians and fled from Scotland to avoid the persecution of King Charles I. They suffered severely during the winter their own provisions failed and the inhabitants of Falmouth had neither shelter nor food sufficient for so large an addition to the population. They were however given 100 bushels of Indian meal by the general court to help them through the winter. These people took their vessel up the river and secured it almost opposite Clark's Point where they remained on Purpooduck Shore during the winter. In the spring most of them sailed for Newburyport and reached Haverhill April 2nd. They soon established themselves at the place to which they gave the name of Londonderry. James McCaslin and several other families, however, remained in Falmouth. James MacCaslen was one of 150 persons taken in upon the act of the town to pay £10 each 18 June 1718. James was then granted a three acre lot on the west side of the neck in Falmouth 8 May 1720." Ancestry.com suggests the meaning of the surname: "Scottish and northern Irish: probably a variant of MacAuslan, which according to Black is an Anglicization of Mac Ausaláin son of Absolom, from the name of an early 13th-century cleric. However, there may rather be an underlying Gaelic personal name, possibly Caisealán, meaning little one of the castle."

Bangor High School - Graduated June 1946. 2 Years at Farmington Teachers College - transferred to 2 Years at University of Maine 1948-1950 in Orono, Maine; graduated in 1950, B.S.Degree in Education. She was a member of Phi Mu.
Jeanette suffered from Multiple Sclerosis for many many years confining her to a wheelchair. Altho she struggled with the multiple sclerosis and the pain often overwhelmed her she never lost her wit and sense of humor.
Her engagement announcement reports: Miss Morgrage, a senior at University of Maine, was educated in the Bangor public schools and was graduated from Bangor High school in 1946. A Dean's list student, she is studying for a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, and will graduate in June. While in Bangor she was active in the Grace Methodist church. She studied voice at the Bangor Convatory of Music, under the tutelage of James Gordon Selwood, and piano at the same institution with the late Grace Bramhall Howe. In the fall of 1946 Miss Morgrage entered Farmington State Teachers' college, where she was active in school affairs, and a member of Lambda Epsilon sorority. At the end of her sophomore year she transferred to the University of Maine, where she is a member of Phi Mu sorority, of which she has been rush chair.
