[31022] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herbert_II_of_Maine reports: "He was a Hugonide, son of Hugh IV of Maine and Berthe de Blois. On the death of Hugh IV Geoffrey Martel, Count of Anjou occupied Maine, expelling Berthe de Blois and Gervais de Château du Loir, Bishop of Le Mans, who fled to the court of Normandy. In 1056, Herbert escaped from Le Mans, and himself went to the court of William, duke of Normandy. There his sister Marguerite was betrothed to Robert Curthose. Herbert paid homage to William for his domain of Maine, and made him his heir."

[55449] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 24 June 2016: "Franklin - Jeannette E. Griffin, age 89, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2016, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine. She was born on May 12, 1927, in Sullivan, the daughter of the late Pearl Martin and Martha 'Mattie' (Tracey) Martin. Jeannette loved everyone and those that knew her referred to her as 'Ma'. She had a huge heart, which shouldn't surprise you that she spent most of her life as a caregiver. She worked as a C.N.A. and volunteered for hospice. Jeannette was a dedicated member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, Schoodic Grange, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Ellsworth. Recently, Jeannette was baptized into Mormon faith. She enjoyed quilting and assisting with the church guild. Traveling, birdwatching, and family were a few of her favorite things. She is survived by her sons, Scott Griffin and wife, Linda of Franklin, David Griffin of Hancock, Peter Griffin and partner, Sue of Franklin, Charles Griffin and partner, Sunshine of Cherryfield; daughters, Barbara Tibbetts of Columbia Falls, Lorna Thomas and husband, Gordon of Franklin, Kimberly Baldwin and husband, Gary of Franklin; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces, and nephews; special friends, Ida, Marian, Burnie, and Karen.
