Alan resided at Oswestry in Salop and was Sheriff of Shropshire. The Web site http://www-personal.umich.edu/~tseaton/Genealogy/Family/FG02/FG02_203.htm in 2003 reports that Alan also had a son, Walter Fitz Alan (d. 1177) who was first High Steward about 1060 and who m. Eschina de Londris, daughter of Thomas De Londris; Walter and Eschina had Alan Fitz Walter, second High Steward (d. 1204; m. Alesta, daughter of Morgund, Earl of Marr). Cf. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Acres/9466/duntanlich.html which reports "He married Avelina de Hesdin, daughter of Ernulf de Hesdin, and had three sons - (1) Simon (Jordan) fitz Alan, Dapifer of Dol; (2) William fitz Alan, ancestor of the fitz Alans, Earls of Arundel; (3) and Walter fitz Alan, First High Steward."
http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/FITZALAN.htm states "having participated in the Conquest, obtained by the gift of King William the Conqueror, the barony and castle of Oswaldestre, Salop, and Milcham, Norfolk, some of which belonged to Meredith, Prince of Powys ap Bleddyn, King of Powys. He received the shreivalty of Shropshire from King Henry I. While his parentage is more or less obscure, there is evidence to show that Flaald, his father, lived in Brittany and was a brother of Alain, seneschal of Dol, descended from the old Armonican counts of Dol and Dinan. Alain Fitz Flaald was also the father or grandfather of William Fitzalan, steward to David I, King of Scotland, ancestor of the Stuarts, kings of that country. Alain Fitz Flaald was also the father of William Fitzalan, to whom Henry II gave in second marriage Isabel De Say, baroness of Clun, the greatest heiress of Shropshire. He was ancestor of John Fitzalan, who married Isabel, sister and co-heiress of Hugh d'Albigny. Upon a division of Hugh's property at his death in 1243, the castle of Arundel was assigned to John, son of the aforementioned John and Isabel, who thus became the first Earl of eventually passed to Mary, daughter and heiress of Henry Fitzalan, who carried it, together Arundel of the Fitzalan line. This property with the earldom and the barony of Maltravers, to her husband Thomas Howard, Duke of Norfolk, in which family it still remains. Alain Fitz Flaald and his wife Adeline were benefactors to priory of Castle Acre, early in the reign of Henry I. The Complete Peerage vol.V,pp.391-392."
http://encyclopedia.jrank.org/STE_SUS/STEWART_STUART.html states: "Alan the son of Flaald, which Flaald was a brother of Alan, steward (or seneschal) of Dol in Brittany. This elder Alan, whose name occurs in Breton documents before 1080, went on crusade in 1097, and was apparently succeeded by his brother Flaald, whose son, the younger Alan, enjoyed the favour of Henry I., who bestowed on him Mileham and its barony in Norfolk, where he founded Sporle Priory. By the daughter of Ernulf de Hesdin (in Picardy), a Domesday baron, he was father of at least three sons: Jordan, who succeeded to the family office of steward of Dol; William, who inherited Mileham and other estates in England, and who founded the great baronial house of Fitz Alan (afterwards earls of Arundel); and Walter, who was made by David I steward (dapifer) or seneschal of Scotland."

[15994] The unverified file LCR5-Q1Y in familysearch.org offers: "Sarah's father, Thomas Hardy, has a listing in Robert Charles Anderson's Great Migration Begins, Vol 2, G-O. This is an excellent source for information on this family. Expertly sourced and published. See attached under Sources. According to Anderson, Thomas Hardy came to Ipswich in 1633. He had 7 children including Sarah, who was probably born about 1641 and probably in Ipswich. Sarah's father was living in Ipswich until about 1653; at some point he removed to Rowley and then to Bradford, or perhaps some boundaries changed around him. William and Sarah had a son born in Haverhill, after which they either moved to Rowley or the town boundaries changed around them. By 1668 they were living in Bradford. Again, the town boundaries may have just changed around them."
