Beal, 94, passed away peacefully May 21, 2021, at Narraguagus Bay Health Care Facility with her son, Arthur Merchant and her granddaughter, Chastity Reynolds by her side. Olive was born April 26, 1927, in Jonesport, Maine, as one of two daughters born to the late Kenneth and Ina (Alley) Beal. Over the years she worked at several fish factories, including Underwoods and L. Ray Packing, where she retired at the age of sixty-three. Olive loved visits with family and friends, playing beano, knitting, going on rides around the horn, and going to church. She was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Ina (Alley) Beal; her first husband, Ephraim Merchant; second husband, Alvin L. Beal; sister, Arlene Moore; granddaughter, Crystal Gail Merchant; and niece, Gwendolyn Smith. Olive is survived by her son, Arthur and wife, Wanda Merchant; stepdaughter, Joanne and husband, Marvin Kelley; granddaughters, Chastity and husband, Wade Reynolds, and Sarah Merchant and fiancé, Patrick Foucher; grandsons, Darek and wife, Tracy Merchant, Christopher Merchant and girlfriend, Trisha Vallone, and Patrick Merchant and girlfriend, Morgan Robinson; stepgrandsons, Ian Alley and wife, Sabrina, and Timothy Alley and wife, Trudy; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Rylee Reynolds, Mallory and Owen Alley, Brooke, Avery, Samuel, Eli and Bexley Alley, and Howard Foucher; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends."

[9669] Ira is son of Samuel Wallace (1827-1899) and Catherine Owen (1826-1886). His wife, Lenora, was also called Adda and Addie L. Loy. He was a trustee of Snyder's United Brethren Church and farmed near Meck's Corner in Perry County, but in retirement moved to his daughter Elsie's home in New Bloomfield. Susan (Sli1031@aol.com) wrote in December, 1999 via email: "I contacted you once before on my Thumma line...and was unable to connect..... I just noticed that we ARE related via my Wallace line... Ira S. Wallace's grandfather, Samuel Wallace who md. Eva Messimer is my ggg grandfather.... My grandfather was Ralph N. Wallace s/o George W. B. Wallace and Sarah Kohr...George was the s/o Ruben and Catherine Ann Wallace...." "The Perry County Times, 14 January 1943," p. 12: "Mr. Ira L. Wallace, a highly respected citizen of New Bloomfield, died at his home, on East High street, early Friday morning, January 8, 1943, in his 84th year. The deceased is survived by two daughters and two sons: Mrs. Grant Fox, of Duncannon; Mrs. Elsie Shearer, of this place; Andrew L. Wallace, of Lemoyne, and Elmer S. Wallace, of Hummelstown; also by a brother, John Wallace, of Meck's Corner, and nine grandchildren. Mr. Wallace was a life long member of Snyder's United Brethren Church. His life work was that of a farmer and only retired last spring when he took up his residence in this place. He was a good Christian man, respected by all who knew him."
