[51654] https://njscuba.net/shipbuildinghistory/us-comm-small/stonington.html offers: "Stonington ME - Stonington Yacht Basin was started by George, Cecil and Sheridan Billings in 1936. It was active in WWII and continued to build boats after the war. It went bankrupt in the 1960s but was bought and reopened by Sheridan's son Dick. It changed its name to Billings Diesel & Marine, Inc., and continues in business today, although it hasn't built a boat recently. Visit the company at billingsmarine.com. The yard has a spectacular location, on Moose Island, just to the west of Stonington. See it from the air on Google here. Note that there is a similarly named yard, Stonington Boat Works, in Stonington CT: this yard is not that yard." This article then lists the many shjips built in this yard.

[54686] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]," 10 July 2023: " Frederick F. Marston Jr. of Sargentville, Maine, age 92, died peacefully on Father's Day, June 18, 2023 in his home 'Sine Nomine' with his loving companion, James Caggiano of Plymouth, MA at his side. Fred was born in White Plains, NY on July 23, 1930 to Catharine Sargent Marston of Sargentville, ME and Frederick Fairbrother Marston, Sr. of Portland, ME. He was raised in Scarsdale, NY and Indianapolis, IN where he graduated from Park School of Indianapolis (now Park Tudor School). He went on to attend Amherst College graduating cum laude in 1952 and received his MBA from Harvard in 1954. He was married to Virginia Hardt of Wilmette, IL on August 22, 1959 until her death in 1998. In his later years, Fred often praised Ginnie for her 'unconditional positive regard' of he and their three children. Fred's professional career was marked by progressive advancement starting with the Stanley Works, New Britain CT (1954-1960); New Hampshire Ball Bearing (1960-1964) and then Hitchiner Mfg. Co., Inc. (1964-1976) when he departed for Miniature Precision Bearing Corp. (MPB) as Managing Director of MPB Europa based in Medemblik, The Netherlands overseeing manufacturing, marketing, finance and sales related activities in the United Kingdom and Western Europe. In 1981, Fred returned to Indianapolis, IN as the Executive VP of Universal Flavor Corporation until 1986 when he returned to Hitchiner working there most recently as Vice President of International Sales and Marketing until his retirement in 2000. In his early days, Fred enjoyed sailing the coast of Maine, as well as the waters of Europe during his time abroad. Fred also enjoyed pedaling the roads of Europe and New England when he was not on the water during the summer months. In the winters he enjoyed skiing in New England, Colorado and the Alps of Europe. In his later years he pursued more relaxing things like smoking cigars on the front patio and taking part in a local book group. Of course, neither the PBS News Hour nor Downton Abbey were to be missed as part of his daily routine. Fred is survived by his long-time companion, James Caggiano of Plymouth, MA; three children and their spouses, Lurissa Marston of Lewiston, ME; Elizabeth (Libby) Twitchell (Timothy) of Dublin, NH and Fritz Marston (Tisha) of Cedarburg, WI. In addition, he is survived by 6 grandchildren; his sister Diana Marston Wood and several nieces and nephews. A graveside memorial service is planned at Rural Cemetery, Sedgwick, Maine, on what would have been Fred's 93rd birthday, Sunday, July 23rd at 1:00 PM, with a gathering to follow at Sine Nomine."
