"Medieval English Ancestors of Certain Americans," Carl Boyer III (Santa Clarita, CA, 2001), p. 69 states "He married first Constance Picard. He married second Isabel Cantelupe, daughter of William, and said by some to be a niece or relative of the de Lacy family; she was a widow in 1245, holding Frome Herbert, and married second Roger Pembrugge." Isabelle M.M.Devereux offered via email 19 July 2012: "Stephen inherited Castle Frome and its lands through his mother, who was the heiress of William (or Walter) de Longchamp of Castle Frome, Herefordshire (the names Walter and William were used for the same person just to confuse everybody!) - he supplied honey from his manor at Ballingham to Hereford Castle - honey was used to sweeten and preserve food (there was no sugar beet or sugar cane in Britain).
Herefordshire Archaeology News Jan 1993, No.59, p.25: 'In July 1214 Stephen Devereux and his heirs were quit in perpetuity of their annual render of honey owed from their manor of Ballingham to Hereford Castle.'"

[9552] William and Mary are from Find A Grave memorial 1228766 which provides a photo of their grave marker with their names. A family of this composition and names is listed in the 15 January 1920 federal census in Reading, Berks Co., PA which lists William as a machinist in a locomotive shop. The 1930 federal census in Reading shows Mary as head of family with the two children - Mary is a clerk in a hosiery mill and is listed as a widow. The 1940 federal census in Reading lists a Charles, as clerk in a hosiery mill with wife, Ida (age 36). Further research is needed.
