He married Catherine Guerne on August 6, 1743, in Grandval, Bern, Switzerland. They had one [known] child during their marriage. He died on September 18, 1785, in Upper Paxton, Pennsylvania, at the age of 67, and was buried in Lecontes Mills, Pennsylvania. Abraham arrived in 1754 in New York City on the Ship Nancy.

Survivors include a son, Michael of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert Peters of Waterloo; and a sister, Elsie Arduser of Sigourney. she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Hagemeier; two brothers, Herman and Charles Peters; and two sisters, Bertha Peters and Christine Marx. I Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Garden View Chapel with burial in Garden of Memories cemetery."
