[25664] Perry settled in Bath Twp. Summit Co., OH in 1840. See Wing Family of America at http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com. Find A Grave memorial 21425926 offers: "Perry Howard Alexander was a corporal in Company G, 115th Ohio Infantry. He was captured while guarding Block House No. 4 on the Nashville and Chattanooga Railroad on Dec. 4, 1864 and held at Andersonville Prison at Americus, GA. In April 1865 he was released from prison and taken to a parole camp near Vicksburg, MS to await transport back home. On April 24, 1865 he and 2,000 other recently released Union prisoners-of-war were crowded aboard the Mississippi River steamboat Sultana. At 2:00 AM on April 27, 1865, when the Sultana was 7 miles north of Memphis, TN, her boilers exploded. More than 1,500 people died. Corporal Alexander was rescued and taken to Adams Hospital in Memphis suffering from a scalded back and face. He was mustered out of the army on May 11, 1865."
