[58744] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]," 11 February 2025: "Malcolm Linwood 'Pete' Carter, 100, of Sedgwick died Feb. 6, 2025, after a brief illness. He was a World War II Army veteran and the oldest resident of Sedgwick, having been presented with the towns Boston Post Cane at his birthday celebration in 2024. Pete was born in Blue Hill on April 30, 1924, one of 15 children of Edwin and Phoebe (Howard) Carter. He spent his childhood in Blue Hill and Brooksville and attended Brooksville public schools. During his early years, he worked at the Gene Lymburner farm in North Brooksville. Pete entered the U.S. Army at age 19 and served during the war in France, England and Germany as a troop truck driver. He was noted and decorated for being an expert gunner. He returned stateside in December 1945. He married the former Wahneeta Crossman on May 17, 1946. They later settled in Sedgwick. Pete and Wahneeta celebrated their 78th anniversary at the time of his birthday celebration in Blue Hill in May 2024."

[3488] He was the fourth son of King Malcolm III and Margaret of Wessex, and was named after Pope Alexander II. Alexander I inherited the throne on the death of his older brother Edgar and when he died childless himself, was succeeded by his own younger brother David. While Alexander reigned over Scotland, north of the Forth and Clyde, his brother David, trained in England and Earl of Northumberland, ruled with the title of Earl in Lothian and Cumbria.
