Another source styles him "Jean de Conteville." http://masseyfamgenealogy.tripod.com/a34.htm#i3499 gives a different ancestry (in 2003), stating that John is son of Baldwin II de Blois, founder of the house of Blois and son of Baldwin I de Blois who is son of Godfrey of Neustria (who was b. ca. 850 to Roland de Neustria).
