[6562] Rochelle was named for New Rochelle, NY, where he father, Ezra, was at his birth. He was a seaman in 1906, per Penobscot Town Register. His name is spelled "Roshelle" on his grave marker. 1921-ca.1937 he and his wife owned and operated Conner's Restaurant on Water Street, Castine, opposite the Ford dealership (in the 1990s the dealership site is the Tarrantine Market grocery store) - they r. above the restaurant. Clara and Rochelle met at the North Castine Grange Hall and were married by the Methodist minister in Castine. He is buried in lot 397B in the Castine Town Cemetery. "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 13 March 1948, p. 13: "Castine, March - Roshelle E. Conner, 72, native of Penobscot, one-time seafarer and former restaurant proprietor, died this morning at his home here. A resident of Castine 28 years he was in the restaurant business for 15 years here. He retired nine years ago. Mr. Conner was a member of Rising Star lodge, F. and A. M., of Penobscot for 40 years. Survivors are his wife. Mrs. Maerea Conner; two daughters, Mrs. Berneice Ames of Portland and Mrs. Louise Brown of Bridgeport, Conn.; a brother, Arthur B. Conner of Castine; and three grandchildren."

[45299] Find A Grave memorial 123172738 offers her obituary: "Leone M. Grindle, 83, wife of the late Frederick T. Grindle, died Saturday, April 3, 1999, at a Bangor hospital. She was born in Oakland, April 12, 1915, the daughter of David and Nellie (Clark) Ellis. She and her husband owned and operated Lawn Dale Boarding Home on Oak Street in Ellsworth for over 40 years. She is survived by a son, David Grindle of Ellsworth; two cousins, Lela J. McDougall of Waterville and Carla Bagley of South Portland. Leone will be remembered warmly by many friends including Louise and Rena Richardson of Ellsworth, Helen Maddocks of Ellsworth Falls, Eleanor Webber of Ellsworth and a dear friend who was also a cousin of Frederick, Teena Grey of Orland, who shared many meals and picnics as "family."
