[49793] Find A Grave memorial 22422496 offers: "Her obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, September 21, 1967: Mrs. Maude (McQueen) Brooks, 92, who resided with her daughter, Mrs. Helen Conneway of 306 Park Ave., Carrollton, died Tuesday evening at Sunny Slope Rest Home in Bowerston, where she had been a patient six weeks, following an extended illness. Born July 24, 1875, in Orange Twp., she was a life resident of Carroll County. Her late parents were Samuel and Malinda (Gregg) McQueen. Mrs. Brooks was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church, where she had served as a Sunday School teacher several years. She also was a member of the WSCS and WCTU. She was married October 10, 1895, to Thomas W. Brooks, who died April 24, 1951. Other survivors include two other daughters, Mrs. J. Percy (Adeline) McFadden of Carrollton and Mrs. Elizabeth Borden of Mansfield; a son, John Raymond Brooks of Scio; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A son, Harvey, died December 9, 1966. There are also two sisters deceased."

She had worked most recently at Montgomery Wards and also Ohio Brass and for Dr. Betty Reed. Marie learned and embraced the Greek language in her early 20's and throughout her life. She had a love for arts and crafts, including: sewing, knitting, crocheting and ceramics and a very special touch with plants and flowers.Marie enjoyed being surrounded by family and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. She was also the one everyone would go to for advice; she would tell you how it was and was always respected for her opinion. Marie was also always able to take a good joke! Survivors include her sons: George (Debbie) Angelas and Pete (Cathy) Angelas; grandchildren: Dinos (Samantha) Angelas, Katie Angelas, Amalia (Aaron) Dasher, Andrea (Trevor) Hershner, Pete (Jessica) Angelas and Maria (Kyle) Hedrick; great grandchildren: Brock, Jaxson, Xander, George, Elias, Anaka, Alanic, Nolan, Gwen and John; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dave Heichel; and siblings: Fred Hout, Joan Womble and Marion Chapman.
