"The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 23 July 2021: "Lincoln - Neal Lewis Doane, 66, peacefully went to be with the Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 21, with his loved ones by his side at his home in Lincoln, Maine. He was born October 13, 1954, in Lincoln, the eldest son of Lewis Doane and Dorothy (Thompson) Doane.
Neal was predeceased by his father; his infant son, Timothy; his father-in-law, Wyman Russell Sr.; his mother-in-law, Alvira Russell; and his brother-in-law, James Russell Sr. Neal grew up in Kingman, Maine and was a graduate of Lee Academy. He joined the Marines out of high school and was proud to serve his country. Following his service, he worked for 35 years at Lincoln Pulp and Paper. He was also a member of the American Legion and the D.A.V. In his younger years, Neal liked to play baseball. He loved Western movies, novels, and television shows. Bonanza was an all-time favorite. He was a skilled woodworker, having made several special pieces for his children over the years. Neal loved to reminisce, and he always had a story to tell. Neal enjoyed gardening and feeding birds. He liked watching the deer on his lawn in Mattawamkeag, where he lived for many years with his wife, Dee. Prior to his illness, Neal was a fixture at the Crossroad's restaurant in Mattawamkeag and he could be found there most mornings, having a cup of coffee, and being filled in on the local gossip. Neal loved his wife more than anything and felt blessed to have her as his partner in life. Early in their marriage, they enjoyed trips together to Florida, Connecticut, and coastal areas of Maine. Neal and Delia worshiped together at the Bible Baptist Church in Mattawamkeag. He loved his children dearly and was very proud of them. He was often showing off pictures of his children and grandchildren and bragging about them to the hospital and dialysis staff who cared for him. Having been diagnosed with COPD and emphysema, Neal bravely underwent a double lung transplant in 2018, following which he struggled to regain quality of life. His family is relieved to know that he is now at peace. Neal is survived by his wife, Delia (Russell) Doane; his children, Sammy Whitney, Rachel Pawlowski and her husband, Nick, Dakota Doane, Valerie Caras and her husband, Adam, and A.J. Thompson and his wife, Jordynne; his mother, Dot Doane; grandchildren, T.J., Emily and Katie Whitney, Elias and Atticus Pawlowski, and Violet and Hudson Caras; siblings, Dana Doane and Ellie Hanscom, Brenda Pratt and her husband, Donald, Luke Doane and his wife, Brandee, and Loretta Hersom and her husband, Dana; brothers-in-law, Wyman Russell Jr., Wayne Russell and his wife, Jill, Roger Russell and his wife, Mary, and David Russell; and a sister-in-law, Donna Russell; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Neal also leaves behind his dog, Stewie, who brought him much comfort and companionship in his time at home."

See "The Register" (Bston: New England Historic Genealogical Society, Summer 2019), Vol. 173, pp. 197-205 for an extended discussion of this family in which ALL of Isaac's children are attributed to Mary. Mary is first wife of Isaac. "Ancestors of American Presidents, 2009 Edition," Gary Boyd Roberts (Boston: NEHGS, 2009), p. 571, shows a line of descent from them to U. S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Larry Overmire posted on http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com this hypothesis: "The main documented source for clues to Mary Norris's ancestry apparently come from the Register of Maryland?s Heraldic Families, which contains a curious note on page 279: 'Mary Norris, granddaughter of Sir Henry Norris of England, came on the ship 'Mayflower' to Plymouth , MA. and married Isaac Allerton, and came to live in Westmoreland Co. VA in 1650. They became neighbors of Sir Thomas Gerrard and Joh n Lee, who jointly built the first club house of America, 1670.' This is odd. Mary Norris died in 1621 and couldn't have moved to Westmoreland Co., VA. However, Isaac Allerton Jr., t he son of Isaac and Fear Brewster, did move to Westmoreland Co. and was co-owner of a mill with John Lee. Somehow the writers of the Register of Maryland's Heraldic Families got at least some of their information confused. If Mary was the granddaughter of Sir Henry Norris, and there is no reason to doubt it, then which Sir Henry Norris was it? The Register provides a clue on pg. 278, 'John Norris, son of Sir Henry II came to Virginia from England and Barbados on the ship Truelove 1635.' The Register does not say how or if John and Mary are related, but the fact that the writers make a distinction between 'Sir Henry Norris' and 'Sir Henry II' indicates that we are talking about two separate individu als, the father and his son. The elder Sir Henry Norris (abt 1525-1601) was the distinguished 1st Baron Norreys of Oxfordshire and Berkshire, a friend of Queen Elizabeth. I am speculating that he is the one the Register is referring t o as being Mary;s grandfather. But who was her father? That remains a mystery. Sir Henry had six sons--William, John , Edward, Henry II, Thomas, and Maximilian. William died in 1579, before Mary was born. Edward and his wife had no issue. John was famous in his own right and if Mary had been his daughter, she most certainly would have been described as such. That leaves Henry II, Thomas or Maximilian as the most likely candidates." Also see "Plymouth Colony: Its History and People, 1620-1691)," Eugene Aubrey Stratton (Ancestry Publishing, Provo, UT, 1986), p. 333.
