Via email 12/2001: My seventh great grandfather, John Kinge, third son of William and Dorothy (Dibble) Kinge born in September 1638 and baptized in Salem, Essex, MA on 10 November 1638 married Elizabeth Goldthwaite the youngest daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth ( -?- ) Goldthwaite who came in the great migration lead by Governor Winthrope to New England about 1630 we don't know which ship of the 11 that he was on originally. I think that he landed at Roxbury and later came to Salem where he had a farm. Part of the farm was divided or added to and given to John Kinge and his wife. John was always held in
high regard by the Goldthwaite family. John signed important papers in Salem 1714 but is declared deceased in the will of his sister in law who died at Beverly on December 18, 1718. John probably went to Sutton to live with his sons and son in law Samuel King, William King, Jonathan King and Benjamin Marsh they farmed over 3,000 acres there. By 1744 Jonathan his grandson wrote in the history of Sutton that his family came to America from Stepney (a port near London) and that he bought 1,200 acres of the original King lands there at Sutton. Samuel migrated to New Salem, William followed later and Jonathan died in Sutton before the death of his Aunt according to the will. John's son John inherited the Goldthwaite/Kinge farm at Salem which was later sold back to the Goldthwaite family by a grandson. Goldthwaite's and Kinge's married again later as cousins keeping in close contact. Are you familiar with the genealogical writings of Charlotte Goldthwaite published in 1895 listing most of the Kinge's and Goldthwaites who survived into the 1900's? Bye the bye there was an early mix-up in the
surname of Dorothy Kinge, with no verifiable proof she was called "Haynes" we now believe that she was a "Dibble" married 15 January 1621/1622 at Saint John the Baptist Church of England in Yeovil, Somersetshire, England. Their first child Mary was born 14 months later in 1623. The parents brought 5 children even though Dorothy was pregnant on the ship to America leaving Weymouth, on the high tide of 20 March 1635/1636 arriving in New England in May 1636. William and Thomas Dibble went to Salem where they were declared "Freemen" in May 1636. -- Daniel David Lewis Frommherz (mckenziemarket@continet.com) PO Box 352, Blue River, Oregon 97413
