Jacob Creveling married Martha Matilda Mellick on December 27, 1832 in St. Paul's Church in Bloomsburg, PA. She was the daughter of John Melick and Hannah Van Buskirk. They arrived in Shenandoah, Richland County, Ohio on May 5, 1848. They lived in Cass Township before settling in Blooming Grove Township. Jacob Creveling eventually aquired 4 farms totaling nearly 600 acres which he bequeathed to his wife who later bequeathed the four farms to their children." Ancestry.com offers: "Creveling Name Meaning - Northern German: probably a variant of Greve or Greuling, a nickname for someone with gray hair, from Middle Low German grawe gray + -ling, a suffix denoting affiliation."
