[55506] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]," 9 January 2024: "Hancock - Jane A. Preble, 84, passed away on Jan. 3, 2024, surrounded by her children. She was born on April 3, 1939, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Edwin and Minola (Moulton) Austin. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Orton Preble in 2022. Jane graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1957, and the Maine School of Practical Nursing in Presque Isle the following year. She did postgraduate work in nursing at Baylor University in Texas and was an exchange student in Sweden in 1961. Jane worked for over 16 years at the Maple Crest Nursing Home in Sullivan. She volunteered with hospice for over 25 years. Jane enjoyed the outdoors, cooking, baking, walking, and gardening. She loved her family and friends and was a member of the Hancock Congregational Church. Jane is survived by her son David Preble and wife Joyce of Hancock, her daughter Vanessa Preble and partner Jerry Roberson of Ellsworth, grandson Dustin Pinkham and partner Samantha Jones of Ellsworth, sister Sally Archer and husband Don of Cottonwood, Utah, and sister-in-law Margret Austin of Ellsworth. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on May 25, 2024, at Simpson Cemetery, in Sullivan."

Willis, 1895), pp. 17-18: "Jacob Kolb, h.May 21, 1685 ; came to America in 1 707 and settled at Germantown ; was
m. to Sarah Van Sintern (sister to Magdalena, Martin's wife) in the year 17 10, May 2d, in the old log Mennonite Church, at Germantown, in presence of the full congregation. Dirk Keyser officiating. An obituary notice of him says : " On the 4th instant, October, 1739, Jacob Kolb, of Skippack. As he was pressing cider the beam of the press fell on one side of his head and shoulder and wounded him so that he languished about half an hour and then died, to the exceeding grief of his relatives and family, who are numerous, and concern of his friends and neighbors, among whom he lived many years in great esteem." Aged 54 years. He was also a trustee, in connection with his brother, Martin, of Skippack Mennonite congregation as early as 1717, where he had moved in 1709. "

[43101] Martha's obituary: "Mrs. Martha Ellen Ritzman passed away Feb 24 [1952] at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Bartram, 1631 Euclid Street, NW, Washington, DC, after an illness of two weeks. Mrs. Ritzman, Daughter of Hugh Laird and Jane Hench McMeen, was born on May 11, 1853. She came to North Dakota with her husband George R. Ritzman, and family of six children in March 1896, and settled near Churchs Ferry, where another daughter was born. They lived there for six years, then homesteaded near what is now Wolford, amidst a settlement of friends and relatives from Juniata County, Penn. Here in spite of hardships of the early pioneering days, her valiant spirit and bravery enabled her to carry on the family traditions and establish a social life much as she had enjoyed in her home stat, helping neighbors in sickness and distress and leading in church work. Mr. Ritzman passed away in 1908 and Mrs. Ritzman continued there with her family until disposal of the family home about 1912. She then made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Della M. Wardrope, and son-in-law, the late Victor Wardrope, in Leeds where she lived for several years. In 1927, she went to live with her daughter in Washington DC. She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Della M. Wardrope of Bismark; Mrs. A. J. Bartram [Eleanor], Washington D.C., Mrs. Ruth M. Wharton, Portland, Ore.; and Mrs. H. J. Henretta [Maude], Minneapolis; and two sons, Mr. William H. Ritzman, Lewistown, Penna.; and Mr. Thurman G. Ritzman, Burbank, Calif. Her eldest daughter, Miss Emma J. Ritzman, passed away in 1945. He died in 1870 at the age of 56. . . When Elvira Ann Herrick and her twin sister Elvira Ann were born on March 9, 1826, in Dexter, Maine, their father, John, was 39 and their mother, Sarah, was 38. She married Samuel Sewell and they had one daughter together. She then married Sewall Sewell about 1846, in Penobscot County, Maine. She died in 1899 in Merna, Nebraska, at the age of 73."
