Violante spent several years in Castile consecrating her life to pious works, but occasionally made her way back to the political scene supporting for example her son Sancho, who had started a rebellion against her estranged husband, the king."

Strout, 92, died Sunday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Louise Strout at Cherryfield after a brief illness. She was born at Cherryfield Sept. 8, 1865, daughter of the late George W. and Caroline (Wallace) Strout. Surviving are three sons, Harold, Russell and Albert, all of Waterville; one daughter, Mrs. Louise Strout; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews."
