He served in the Army during World War I and was a charter member of the Clarkfield American Legion Post. On October 6, 1930, he was united in marriage to Marie Waggoner. To this union three sons and two daughters were born. He passed away Tuesday, August 30, 1977, at the Veterans Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota. Survivors include wife, Marie (Waggoner) Ferguson; son, Lester (and Phyllis) Ferguson; son, Walter (and Diane) Ferguson; daughter, Nellie (and David) Idso; daughter, Donna (and Dale) McJunkin; 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, Forest; and two sisters: Mrs. Eva Siles and Mrs. Omar (Hazel) Svenmungson. He was preceded in death by one son, Leroy; his parents, three brothers and two sisters."
