Born in Noble County on June 24, 1900, he was a retired well driller He was a past president of the Indiana Well Drillers Assn., past piesident of Fort Wayne Local 22, Well Drillers, and a member of the Churubusco Masonic Lodge. On Oct 29, 1921 he married Edith Stroh, who survives, along with three daughters, Mrs. David Carter of Albion, Mrs. Don Leatherman of Albion and Mrs. Richard Thomas of Belleville, Mich; four sons, J C. of Albion, Dale A., with the Air Force in Denver, Stanley of Warsaw and Michael of Charlevoix, Mich.; 23 gtandchildren, eight grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Cora Bonar, who lives in Miller's Merry Manor Nursing Home in Columbia City, a sister, Mrs Ruth Hydman of Fort Wayne, and three brothers, Trevor of Churubusco, Everett of La Otto and Donald of Columbia City." Arthur is son of Curtis Francis Bonar and Cora A. Shambaugh. Ancestry.com offers: "Bonar Name Meaning - Scottish and northern Irish: variant of Bonner. Irish (Donegal): Scottish name adopted as a translation of Gaelic Ó Cnáimhsighe descendant of Cnáimhseach, a byname meaning midwife. This word seems to be a derivative of cnámh bone (with the feminine ending -seach), but if so the reason for this is not clear. Polish: from German Bo(h)ner bean grower (see Boner)."
