[14166] LDS Church's unverified IGI file (Source Call # 1396454, Batch # 5000710) gives her parents as Christopher Hepler and Catherine Wagner. Nancy Jeanne Rochelle Walker (n.jrochelle@verison.net) stated in 2004 on http://awt.ancestry.com that Magdalena is daughter of Christopher Hepler (b.10 July 1777 in Upper Milford Twp., Lehigh Co., PA; d.18 Nov 1847 in Upper Mahantango Twp., Schuylkill Co., PA, son of Caspar Hepler [b: 20 May 1751 in Upper Milford Twp., PA] and Anna Maria Schmidt [b: 15 Mar 1755 in PA], who m. 31 Oct 1799 Catherine Wagner [b: 8 Oct 1780 in Macungie Twp., Lehigh County, PA]). [Caspar served in the military forces of the Revolutionary War. There was "A General Muster of Northampton County Militia" for 14th of May 1778 extant, listing Captain Joseph Kooken in command of the first Company and showing Caspar as one of ten members of First Class. This unit appears to have been a home constabulary, with little known battle participation. - Source: "Hepler Family History," 1986, Avice Hepler Morgan.] Cf. notes for Elizabeth ("Ann E.") Hepler and for Caspar Hepler in this database.

[4674] http://www.lasr.net/pages/city.php?City_ID=KS0812011 offers in 2007: "LaCrosse was filed in 1876 as an original town site by the Missouri-Pacific Railroad when Rush County was re-surveyed two years after it was organized, making this location the exact center of the county. The land belonged to patentee and surveyor, Denman A. Stubbs, and wife, Ellen Jewell Stubbs, who came from Wisconsin and settled in 1874. These early settlers were the first developers of LaCrosse. Lots in the town were soon sold to young men, mostly members of the Society of Friends, from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Eastern Kansas."
