William Bennett ("Bennett") CRIDER

[46021]

10 APR 1828 - 26 OCT 1910

Family 1 : Elizabeth Jane BUTLER
  1. +Arminta J. CRIDER

INDEX

[46021] Find A Grave memorial 44834494 offers Bennett's obituary: "Crittenden County Press, 8 Dec 1910: W. B. Crider was born April 10, 1828, died Oct. 26, 1910 aged 82 years, 6 months and 16 days. He professed faith in Christ when 19 years of age at Piney Fork camp meeting and joined the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at Piney Fork. He was made a ruling Elder in 1851 and served as same for 59 years. He married first to Arminta Crider in 1849, a little over a year she died. He was again married to Miss Elizabeth Butler in 1855. To this union were born 10 children. He was again married to Mrs. Womelduff in 1876, again death entered his home. He married again Miss Linia Lamb, in 1894. He leaves to mourn his loss a wife and two children, Arminta Bradley of Kansas and Jack Crider of Oklahoma, and a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. He will be missed, but by none like these three companions. Eight children have preceeded him to that home for which he had been looking for years. I can truthfully say Bro. Crider was one of the best men I ever knew. He was a devoted husband and father. His friends and companions never tired of administering to his wants. He was true blue Cumberland Presbyterian and loved his church. His health failed a few years ago. He suffered a great deal but bore it all so patiently. In the death of Bro. Crider the church as lost an earnest christian worker and the home of a loving companion. The funeral was preached in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, at Piney Fork, in the presence of a large congregation. At the close of the service the Masonic Fraternity took charge of the remains and conducted same to the cemetery, where the body was laid to rest, by their beautiful ritualistic service. We say to the wife and children, 'Weep not as those who have no hope, father is not dead by sleepth'. May the God of love bless and comfort your hearts, is my prayer. Rev. J. R. King"

[45431] "Bangor Daily News, 16 August 2019": Bucksport - Gerald Lloyd "Jerry" Leach died unexpectedly on August 13, 2019, at his camp on Spec Pond, doing what he loved, in a place he loved, with a treasured friend at his side. Born during a snowstorm to Lloyd and Lois Leach on December 7, 1957, Jerry lived his whole life on Verona Island and Bucksport. When asked why he didn't care to travel he simply answered "I love Maine." He was a proud "old school" papermaker and worked for 36 years at the Bucksport mill. After retiring, he taught himself to weld and built a machine shop in his garage. Jerry was an avid collector of tools, a skilled carpenter; and if he couldn't fix something, he figured out how. He was smart, witty, curious and always ready to help others. Jerry will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and cousin. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 30 years, Allison; his children: Kasie Laviolette (and husband, Joe), Jessica VanScoy (and husband, Derek), Nicholas Leach, Katie VanScoy, and Kel Leach (with partner, Kelsey); his siblings, brother, Larry (and wife, Jill), brother-in-law, Smokey (and wife, Clara), and sister-in-law, Robyn (and husband, Mike). He also leaves his beloved grandchildren: Rylee, Noah, Chloe, Ada, Jade, and Aiden, as well as nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He will be sadly missed by his much loved beagles, Jack and Molly, and his granddog, Henrietta."

[41549] Who did she marry? - there are conflicting husbands in the unverified Ancestry.com family trees. She is from the unverified Troutman Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2016. She is perhaps daughter of Johannes Hans Tschopp (1740 - 1813) & Magdalena Stohler (1743 - 1800) - this ancestry continues above, but must be proven - The unverified Smith Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2018 offers: "When Regina (Rachel) Tschopp was born on February 2, 1770, in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, her father, Johannes, was 29, and her mother, Magdalena, was 29. . . . She died in 1809 in Lykens, Pennsylvania, at the age of 39." Ancestry.com offers: "Tschopp Name Meaning - Swiss German: probably from a metonymic occupational name for a jacket maker, from Middle High German jop(p)e, juppe ‘jacket’ (schope, schoppe), a loanword from Italian g(i)ubba; in some instances the surname may have arisen from a nickname for someone who wore jackets that were remarkable."
