[44410] Find A Grave memorial 146511760 offers: "Lifelong area resident, Clyde Austen went to be with the Lord Friday morning, May 15, 2015 in Colonial Manor in Loudonville surrounded by his family. He was 88. He was born May 1, 1927 in Ashland County to parents Clyde Leech Austen, Sr. & Hilda (Raubenolt) Austen. After he graduated from Big Prairie High School, Clyde proudly served his country by joining the US Army during WWII. A beautiful young lady named Leona Delee Kindinger caught his eye and the pair soon married on May 4, 1952. He worked 30 years for General Motors until his retirement in 1987. Clyde was a faithful member of First Christian Church in Mansfield. He enjoyed reading mysteries and Western novels in his spare time as well as playing and watching golf. In younger years, he coached his sons baseball team, and all his life he was an avid fan of Cleveland Indians baseball and OSU football. His family and friends will miss his quiet nature and he will be remembered as a true gentleman. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Leona Austen of Bellville; four children (& spouses): Kay Ann Johnson of Columbus, Tom & Jane Austen of North Tonawanda, NY, Lauree & Bill Horn of Galena, and Linda & Mike Roth of Bellville; eight grandchildren & spouses: Alicia & Leighton Zimmey, Nick & Katie Austen, Katie Austen, Molly Austen, A.J. Willey, Ben & Leigh Ann Roth, Gabe Roth, and McKenzie & Jacob Doup; two great-grandchildren Lucas and Lydia Roth; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents, Clyde was preceded in death by five siblings: Dorothy Austen, Avalon Pickworth, Norma Austen, Virginia Hanawalt, and Esther Starner; and his mother-in-law Ethel Kindinger."
