However, John's wife Mary died and he married as a 2nd wife Grace Holloway who was the widow of Mayflower Pilgrim William Holloway. Then lightning hit my house (1666) and killed Grace and two others, and John married as a 3rd wife Faith Clark Doty who was not only a Mayflower person herself, (daughter of Tristam and Faith Clark) but was the widow of Edward Doty. John did not have much luck with wives and Faith also pre-deceased him, and he married a 4th wife, a widow from Scituate, MA. In 2002 http://www.burgessgenealogy.net stated: "In The Burgess History Tree, p. 73, Paul Burgess states (without citing his source) that John was born 10 February 1627/28 in Truro, Cornwall, England. We have seen no evidence that places our Burgess family in Cornwall or any evidence of the birth dates of any of Thomas and Dorothy's children, other than Elizabeth (based on her age at death). 'John Burgess, the second son of Thomas, was admitted a freeman in 1657, and served as grand juror in 1661. He early removed to Yarmouth, and was deputy from that town to the Court at Plymouth in 1680. He married Mary, the daughter of Peter Worden, Sept. 8, 1657, and had a large family.'"

Lydia's mother was Tameson [probably Tamsin] Bangs daughter of Jonathan Bangs of Harwich and Mary Mayo. Hiam quotes the Bangs Family as sources. Lydia was b. May 2, 1704 and d. Jan 16, 1777 and was married to Jonathan Luce of Tisbury. [this is on pp. 83-84 of Hiam's Burgess Genealogy] Lydia's siblings were Joseph who married Thankful snow of Eastham John b. April 5, 1706 who married Hannah Blackwell of Sandwich Jonathan, b. May 5, 1708 who married Elizabeth _ and who died at age 93 Mercy b. Jan 1, 1712 and d. Jan 25, 1795; she married Judah Baker. Remember b. June 21, 1716 and married Israel Cole III of Eastham Simeon who married Deborah Edwards. There is a debate on the Burgess genealogists as to Jonathan and Remember's parentage and marriages. It is very long and complex. You might see Jonathan listed to another parent - Samuel and his second wife, Mary Taylor. Some researchers think Remember was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabth Burgess."

This was the second "creation" of this earldom, originally bestowed on Hugh de Lacey in 1205 but claimed by the crown on Hugh's death in 1226. Ulster is the northern part of Ireland, the name from the Gaelic Uladh and the Norse ending "ster". Minick, 75, formerly a justice of the peace in Perry County, died last Thursday morning, September 26, at his home, Elizabethtown R. D. 1, following a brief illness. A son of the late John and Hannah Corlan Minick, he was born in Huntingdon County. After retiring from a 20-year career in painting and carpentry, Minick operated a service station and restaurant in Perry County for 18 years. He retired two years ago. Prom 1954 to ' 1961, Minick was a justice of the peace in New Buffalo, Perry County. He was a member of the Friendship Fire Company, this borough, and of the New Buffalo Fire Company. He is survived by his wife, Emma Shiley Minick, and four sons: Scott M.. Bainbridge; Dean C. and Guy B., Elizabethtown R. D. 1, and George C, Newville, Cumberland County. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a half-brother, Guy Shanafelter, Blaine, Perry County." William is son of John Minick and Hannah Mary Carlin who m. 2nd Frederick J. Shanafelter. William r. in the Bainbridge area of Lancaster Co. From 1954 to 1961 he was a Justice of the Peace at New Buffalo, Perry Co. He operated a service station and restaurant on Routes 11-15 there after retiring as a carpenter and painter. Ancestry.com offers: "Minick Name Meaning - Perhaps an Americanized spelling of Ukrainian Mynik, Polish Minik, of uncertain origin, possibly a short form of the personal name Dominik (see Domingo)."
