The ancestry shown here is from the unverified "Fowler Family History and Genealogy" in http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com which calls him Thomas Fowler Basford. Also identified as father of George W. Basford by Kevin Edward Spaulding and Marjorie Bassford Spille on their web site, http://www.basford.org/genealogy (but definite proof is needed). This site reports concerning George W. Basford: "George Washington Waters Basford (Thomas3, Thomas2, Thomas1). Born on 22 Dec 1801 in Frederick Co., MD. age 17 on 22 Dec 1818. George Washington Waters died in Jeromesville, Ashland Co., OH, on 3 Mar 1871. Buried in Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery, Jeromesville, Ashland Co., OH. On 1 Mar 1819, George Basford, orphan, was bound by the court to Christian Tabler until 21 years to learn the trade of tailor. His age was give as 17, as of '22 December last.' [Indenture for George Basford, 1 Mar 1819, Frederick Co., MD Orphans Court]." The site states that he is probably the son of the "the Thomas Basford listed in the 1776 census of All Hallows Parish, Anne Arundel Co., MD, with 2 white males, 1 white female, 4 white children and 2 taxables" who is "probably the Thomas Basford who signed the oath of fidelity in Anne Arundel Co., MD in 1777." The site states further "He married Susanna Fowler, daughter of William Fowler (16 Feb 1698/9-? ) & Susannah Duvall (12 Sep 1704-? ), ? . Born on 24 Jan 1726 in Prince George's Co., MD. Susanna died bef 6 Mar 1789. Son John made final distribtion of husband's estate. She was taxed in the 1783 assessment of Road River Hundred, Anne Arundel Co., MD, along with Frederick, Benjamin (pauper) and John Basford. A number of sources show her surname as Fowler and her parents as William and Susannah (Duvall) Fowler, although I have not seen any primary source information to verify this." The father of Thomas is listed as "Thomas Basford. Born abt 1700. [Land Commissions 1724-1766, MDHR 4745 (A.A.Co 2:258)] age 60 in 1760. Thomas died in Anne Arundel Co., MD, bet 5 Nov 1765 and 7 Jan 1767. Will dated and proved. aka: Bastford. Will dated 5 Nov 1765; proved 7 Jan 1767, mentions wife Rachel, son Thomas, grandson Frederick Bassford, youngest son Steven, grandson John son of Thomas Basford, daughter Margaret Fowler, daughter Milcah Linthicum, granddaughter Rebecca Iiams, daughter Mary Morgan and daughter Elizabeth Iiams. He married Rachel _______, Born ? . Rachel died aft 7 Jan 1767; executrix for husband's will."
https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Basford-57 (not verified) offers: "Thomas was born about 1758. He served in the Revolutionary War. First as Ensign in Captain Thomas Mullikin's Maryland Militia, then as Ensign in the Severn Battalion in Ann Arundel County, Maryland. Thomas Basford married Cassandra Waters in 1784, she might be a second wife. He passed away before 1815. Sources: Archives of Maryland, Journal and Correspondence, Vol. 11, pages 450 & 495. Maryland Records: Prince Georges County Marriage Licenses 1777 - 1836, page 6."

[5388] Edward also m. Frances Howard. See http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/Bios/EdwardSeymour(2EHertford).htm and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Seymour,_1st_Earl_of_Hertford.
[50425] Find A Grave memorial 180897850 offers Ferd's obituary: "Wallingford, CT - Ferd Eugene White Sr., 93, (not Fern or Fred), but Whitey to his friends from Lane Construction Corp. of Cheshire, CT, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Midstate Medical Center in Meriden, CT. Born June 2, 1924 ,to the late Perley and Edith (Brown) White, he is survived by his wife of 68 years, Joyce Elaine (Getchell) of Caribou, ME. Ferd enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII on February 24, 1943. He was a member of the 643rd Tank Destroyer Battalion in the initial invasion at the Battle of the Bulge, in Sherbourne, France. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the American Service Medal, and the European - African - Middle Eastern Campaign Medal for his service. One of his great disappointments was to be discharged from the military service as infantry, instead of being discharged under the 643rd Tank Destroyer Battalion. Ferd was employed as a truck driver for several companies including his father-in-law's, Russell C. Getchell Trucking, Ted Wainwright, and Sprague Inc. prior to getting his lifelong job at LANE Construction, transporting heavy equipment over the road for 41 years from which he retired in 1987. Ferd was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Compass #9 for 50 years, as well as the American Legion and VFW. Ferd had strong family ties during his retiring years, in which he would read local and Maine newspapers, and would write at least one letter every day to his family and friends to keep in touch with everyone. Ferd was also an avid hunter, he would go deer hunting every fall at Getchell's camp in the Great Northern Maine woods. He would hunt with his brother-in-laws, nephews, sons, and grandsons. He would also meet with people he would know from ME, considering them all as family. Ferd's famous words were, 'Be careful, and I Love You!' Ferd is survived by two sons, Albert Jefferson Reed Jr. "Bucky" of FL, Ferd E. White Jr. "Mickey" (his fiancee, Sherry Furbush) of ME; and two daughters, Sherri (Henry) Woronick of Wallingford, CT, and Roberta J. "Bobbie" (Gary Bernabi) White of Wallingford, CT. He will also be missed by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and surviving in-laws. Ferd was predeceased by his parents; four siblings, Donald A. White, Merle I. White, Maurice A. White and Ruth L. Watson; grandson, Jeremey J. White; and a daughter-in-law, Shirley (Williams) Reed."
