George enlisted 3 April 1865 in the Loudoun Co., VA Rangers, serving in the Union Army during the War Between the States for almost two months. In 880 the census lists him in Mansfield, OH but from 1891 he r. Akron, OH; he worked in Akron for an iron company and then B. F. Goodrich where he was an engineer in 1900. In 1910 the census shows him in Norton, Summit Co., OH.
[32862] The Sheesley tree states Emma is daughter of Thomas B. Rutter (1854-1937) and Sevilla E. _____ (1860-1937). "Elizabethville Echo [Elizabethville, PA], 30 September 1954," p. 1: "Mrs. Emma E. Sheesley, age 74 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lester Riland, Halifax R. D., on Monday. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Riland and Miss Hannah Sheesley, Halifax R. D.; Mrs. Florence Straw, Halifax; seven sons, George Sheesley, Carlisle; Richard Sheesley, Progress; Wilmer Sheesley, Fisherville; Ralph Sheesley, Halifax R. D.; Francis Sheesley, Millersburg; Walter and Thomas Sheesley, Halifax; twenty-eight grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren."
